J&K Police flag off 30 retrofitted vehicles

Jammu, Dec 31: The Director General of Police Dilbag Singh flagged off 30 Mahindra Bolero Campers (in house retrofitted vehicles) for Jammu Zone today at Gulshan Ground, Jammu.

ADGsP Dr SD Singh Jamwal, Mukesh Singh, Danesh Rana, Garib Dass, IGsP M N Tiwari, Vikramjeet Singh, B S Tuti, DIG Admin PHQ Sara Rizvi, DIG JSK Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu Shri Chandan Kholi, all AIsG of PHQ and other gazetted officers of Jammu district and PHQ were present on the occasion.

These vehicles have been retrofitted by the J&K Police Transport Workshop Srinagar and would be deployed in different police stations of the Jammu Zone. These vehicles with cabins would be used as troop/load carriers as well besides having good space in the front cabins.

Speaking to the media, the DGP said that these retro fitted vehicles after augmenting them with more capacity and utility will be used by the Police stations. He said that with increased need of mobility of Police personnel to face the multifarious duties more such vehicles will be allotted to the Police Stations. He said that such endeavour provide assistance not only to the Police personnel but to the general people as well.

In its continuous endeavour, Jammu and Kashmir Police have implemented various measures to enhance the mobility of Police personnel which has helped the J&K Police personnel to reach places and the spots in need of police attention in quick time. This has also resulted in increased patrolling and ensured quick and rapid response to the crimes scenes, law & order situations.

 

Cold, dry weather likely in J&K during next 24 hrs

Weather was partly cloudy in J&K during the last 24 hours as the Meteorological (MeT) office said on Sunday that cold, dry weather is likely to continue.

“Weather is expected to remain cold and dry with clear sky during the next 24 hours in J&K.

“Minimum temperatures are likely to drop further during this period,” an official of the MeT department said.

Srinagar recorded 0.5 degree Celsius during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Pahalgam witnessed minus 9.4 and Gulmarg minus 8.2 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature. Local reports said this was the coldest night of the season so far in these two resorts.

Jammu had 5.7, Katra 6, Batote minus 0.3, Banihal 2.2 and Bhaderwah minus 0.8.

In one of the biggest promotion bonanzas on the eve of New Year, Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh has approved the promotion of 1347 Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Executive and Armed Wing to the rank of Sub Inspectors.

A Departmental Promotion Committee was convened under the chairmanship of the DGP at Police Headquarters Jammu and after a thorough scrutiny of the service records, promotion in respect of these officers has been ordered.

994 Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Executive Police and 353 Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Armed Police have been promoted as Sub Inspector

The DGP in his message has congratulated all the officers and their families. He has expressed hope that this elevation would bring a new and positive energy among the force to work tirelessly for achieving organizational goals.

Woman Bitten By Neighbour’s Pet Dog in Jammu

Jammu, January 01, 2023: A married woman suffered injuries on her neck and hand as a Pitbull attacked her in Powal village of Arnia area in Jammu, yesterday.

As per the report, the victim namely Sonia Devi was in her locality in Powal village when the dog, owned by one of her neighbours, came running out of the house and bit her – on her hands and neck.

After the inicident the victim’s family rushed towards the spot of incident and resuced her and rushed her to a ‘Primary Health Center’ (PHC), Arnia and on reaching there when doctor examined  Sonia’s critical condition, they referred her further to Bishnah hospital for the treatment.

Mr Parshottam, the victim’s husband said that his neighbour’s dog usually bites people in their vicinity and he has decided to register an FIR against him so that the dog owner could learn to tie his dog to prevent such incidents in future.

J&K HC directs FO to provide minimum wages to Sweepers, Chowkidars, Gatekeepers

High Court has directed the Funds Organization to provide minimum wages to the Sweepers, Chowkidars and Gatekeepers working in the department.

Justice Javed Iqbal Wani quashed the orders and communication of the Finance Department maintaining the job of Sweeper as part time and directed the Government to pay wages to the petitioners at par with other employees.

Various employees of Funds Organization through their counsel T H Khawja approached the court claiming to be working as Sweepers, Chowkidars and Gatekeepers in the department and seek that the authorities be directed to pay wages to them at par with minimum of the pay scale attached to the posts of Sweepers and Chowkidars as also consequential Dearness Allowance admissible of such basic pay.

Court said the observation made by the Director and Commissioner are perverse, arbitrary, discriminatory and suffer from vice of having been passed without application of mind as also based upon no evidence.

Court quashed the impugned order as also communication and commanded the authorities to pay the petitioners wages at par with SRO 460 of 2017 read with Government Order No. 25-F of 2018 or any other statutory modification there-from the date of issuance of said SRO or statutory modification thereof.

 

 

 

 

367 J&K Police personnel promoted

ADGP Armed J&K, S J M Gillani has ordered promotion of 367 Police personnel, who include 353 Assistant Sub-Inspectors to the rank of Sub-Inspectors and 14 Head-Constables to the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspectors.

In this regard, two separate orders were issued by the Armed Police Headquarters J&K Srinagar.

The promotions of such a huge number of ASIs to the rank of Sub-Inspectors could be possible in view of the onetime 1 year, 8 months’ relaxation granted by the PHQ J&K in the qualifying service of the ASIs of J&K Armed Police.

The promotion orders have been issued after the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), headed by ADGP Armed J&K as its Chairman, examined the cases of eligible ASIs and HCs as per their seniority and found them fit for promotion to their next rank in light of the relevant promotion norms read with the onetime relaxation granted by the PHQ J&K in the instant case.

Jammu locals stage protest, take out democracy’s funeral march

Jammu, Dec 31: Several members of Jammu’s Aam Aadmi Party headed by Chairman AAP J&K Harsha Dev Singh staged agitation against local administration and carried out a funeral procession allegedly in the name of democracy outside Nirvachan Bhawan in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu on Saturday.

The protestors were heard saying ‘Ram Naam Satya Hai’ and holding charpoy with bed sheets on their shoulders, calling it the funeral of democracy in J&K UT.

Interacting with the media, former minister and Chairman AAP J&K, Mr Harsh Dev Singh allegedly said that Democracy has died in J-K and they are conducting its final rites outside the Election commisson office in Jammu, and they are astonish to see that the local regime is being run by the bureaucrats appointed by the centre.

“From past four months a proxy rule imposed by the central regime is running in J&K and outsiders who are not natives of the UT have been operating the administrative affairs here, corruption is at its giddy heights and the masses are deprived of their basic facilities such as water, electricity, health and roads. No, one is interested to hear the woes of local populace. All the political parties in J&K region has failed in their duties. If the central administration considers J&K part of India, then they should restore democracy here, why they are keeping the local people of J&K at bay from democracy”, he said.

He further said that they have staged several protests for the people and today they have discussed all the problems of people with local govt.

“Our economy is degrading everyday and the residents of J&K are in despair with no one in sight to help them.”, he said.
