Jammu’s 14-yr-old girl student shines in Project Veer Gatha 2.0

Doda, Jan 04, 2023: Sadiya Haffiz (14) a student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Thathri in Doda Jammu, has been selected among 25 students throughout India under the Veer Gatha Project 2.0.

She is the only student from J&K Kashmir to win this prestigious award in the 9th and 10th competitions.

What is Project Veer Gatha Edition 2 ?

In order to disseminate the details of acts of bravery and the life stories of these brave- hearts among the students, it has been proposed by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) that school students may be motivated to do projects/activities based on gallantry award winners.

Accordingly, the first edition of Project Veer Gatha was organized from Aug 2021 to Jan 2022, for schools affiliated to CBSE and state boards. In pursuance of the Veergatha the students undertook different projects on these gallantry award winners and the best projects were awarded nationally by MoD and Ministry of Education (MoE)  twice in a year.

Sonia Gandhi Admitted To Ganga Ram Hospital

Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Ganga Ram Hospital here on Wednesday for routine check-up, sources said.

Her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accompanied her to the hospital, they said.
According to them, Sonia Gandhi has been suffering from a respiratory infection.

Sources added that Sonia Gandhi has been unwell since Tuesday which is why Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had returned to Delhi after walking seven kilometres in the Bharat Jodo Yatra that entered Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday evening.

The Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed its journey at 6 am on Wednesday after halting for the night at Mavikalan in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat.

Priyanka Gandhi did not, however, join Rahul Gandhi at the yatra’s resumption. She is likely to join after noon, party sources said.

J&K Youth hangs self to death, second case in 5 days

A 27-year-old youth has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to death in Hib Dangerpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.

Officials said that a 27-year-old youth (name withheld) has hanged himself to death at his residence in Hib Dangerpora village of Sopore.

They said that he was rushed to SDH Sopore where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, confirming the incident, a police official said that they have taken the cognizance of the incident and started the further investigations.

This is the second alleged suicide case reported from the district within a period of five days.

Earlier, five days ago a girl ended her life by jumping into river Jhelum in Baramulla.

Actress Jacqueline pays obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi shrine

Reasi, December 04, 2023: Popular Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez paid obeisance to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine at Katra, Reasi in Jammu on Wednesday.

In a viral video, an elated Jacqueline standing at Vaishno Devi shrine said, “I had an amazing experience with ‘Mata Vaishno Devi shrine Board’. They made my journey, peaceful and devotional to the shrine.

ReK teachers protest in Jammu, demand fulfillment of demands

Police on Wednesday resorted to lathi-charge to disperse protesting Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK teachers) Teachers demanding regularisation.

Agitating ReK teachers started the protest march from outside the Press Club of Jammu but contingent of police deployed, prevented them from disrupting the traffic on the road.
To foil the march, police resorted to lathi-charge and dispersed them.

Hundreds of Rehbar-e-Khel teachers continued their protest for the sixteenth consecutive day on Wednesday under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers Association and appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir administration to fulfil the promises made to them.

The Rehbar-e-Khel teachers staged a protest claiming to remind the administration of promises committed with their delegation at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar on May 29, 2022.
“The committee was also framed to resolve our issues but it has not yet submitted its final report and our legitimate demands are not being fulfilled, so we were forced to intensify the protests,? said the agitating ReK teachers.

They claimed that the LG administration has directed the department to implement the order which was proposed by the committee earlier and it is against the policy and cabinet order of Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers.

We perform duties with enthusiasm, but the present government denies justice to us, they added and said that as per the policy the available vacancies of PET’s will be kept reserved for Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers but the Govt is going to de-freeze the freezed posts, which is totally injustice with them.

Security forces defused old rusted shell in J&K

An old rusted shell was recovered as well defused in Sunglan Chittergul area of Shangus in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.

Quoting a senior police officer said that a rusted old shell was recovered late evening yesterday.

“Today early morning a joint team of police, security forces along with Bomb Disposal Squad reached to the spot,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BDS has successfully defused the old shell, the officer added.

J-K admin announces leave on Gurupurab

Jammu and Kashmir admin ordered grant of one day special casual leave for employees, who desire to avail holiday on account of (Gurupurab) Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s birthday on 5 January.

An order issued by Secretary to the Admin, Piyush Singla reads, “Sanction is hereby accorded to the grant of one day Special Casual Leave in favour of employees who desire to avail holiday on account of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s birthday on 5th January, 2023 (Thursday).”

Two dead including a pregnant lady on Jammu-Poonch highway

In a terrible accident, a pregnant lady with her kid died in a road accident on Jammu-Poonch  highway at Dandesar in Nowshera of Rajouri on Wednesday.

As per the report, the accident occurred between an alto car  bearing registration No. (JK02BN75520) and a bus (JK02AX 1677), killing a pregnant woman and her kid on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as  Saima kouser (26) w/o Mohd Anees age, and her son Danish s/o Mohd Anees four months old.

While the injured  Mohd Anees (30) s/o Mohd Bashir and his son Moheez Ahmed (4) were referred to a hospital in Nowshera and when doctors declared their condition as critical, they were airlifted to Jammu.

All these persons are residents of Ghambir Muglan, Manjakote in Rajouri.

The impact of the accident was such that the front portion of the car was fully damaged.  Even the bus too has been damaged.

Jammu, January 04, 2023: Scores of members of Yuva Rajput Sabha at Dogra Chowk in Jammu on Wednesday took out a candle march against the target killings of the minority community in Dhangri of Rajouri.

“Pakistan Murdabad and stop target killings”, the anguished protestors shouted in their agitation.

Condemning the attack, Yuva Rajput Sabha President, Mr Rajan Singh Happy said:” The terrorists went to an unarmed ex-civilian’s house and killed him at Dangri, then an IED went off and killed our kids there”,

He said the security forces and Intelligence agencies has failed to prevent these terror attacks in Rajouri.

“The terrorists are murdering our people. The govt has ordered to submit extra weapons, if one posses and then how will people protect themselves from assailants.

“We the people of Jammu must unite against these terrorists and if anyone finds any information about them, they should inform the police”, he added.

In another horrific incident from the national capital, a 22-year-old woman was repeatedly stabbed by her male friend in Adarsh nagar area. The man was allegedly angry after she ended their friendship and stabbed the woman at least three to four times in broad daylight.

The brutal attacked captured in the CCTV in which the duo is seen walking in a narrow lonely lane in the residential area and after walking few minutes the accused attacked her. The girl has received multiple injuries to her neck, stomach, and hands.

After being attacked, the boy fled from the scene. The neighbour in the area heard the commotion and rushed to help Simrajit.

The accused was arrested on Tuesday and charged under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to reports, the woman was friends with the man over the course of several years but their friendship turned sour and she stopped talking to him. Angry over this, the man attacked her and fled from the site of the incident.
