Jammu: The annual sports day of Impression World Preschool, Sainik Colony, was conducted with an uncommon elan on yesterday.

The motto of the event was ‘a race is not about competing. It is about completing.

The celebrations for the tiny tots began with freeze dance followed by different categories of sports. Held at Major Nain Singh Park, Preshoolers displayed a grounded spirit on the ground with games such as cleaning the city, pickup the fruits and transport race.

Nursery students attempted sports like lock and key, colouring colour race and build the tower. Junior KG toddlers participated in sports like fill the bottles and plant me. Senior KG buds demonstrated their drill at Hula Hoop race.

“After a two year hiatus due to the Covid, we are happy that life is becoming normal. This is also a spirited time for the smaller ones who abstained from schooling for two years. This sports event will definitely give them boost to brave newer challenges of life.” said the principal, Shivani Sharma.

The Chief Guest of the event was Narender Singh, Health and Sanitation chairman and Shihan Umesh Rekhi, General Secretary, North India Karate Association.

The sports meet also had a category for parents and siblings. The chief guest awarded medals to all the toddlers whereas in siblings and parents competition, only winners got the trophy.

Jammu: At least six people sustained wounds when a car they were travelling in, fell into a deep gorge near Jamoda area of Mansar in Samba, Jammu on Sunday.

The report said that the accident occurred when the driver lost control of his eco car (JK21J0572) near a sharp curve and skidded off the road and plunged into the gorge near Mansar.

Soon, after the accident locals along with the police reached on the spot of the incident and initiated a rescue operation to save the wounded occupants of the car and rushed them to the Samba District Hospital for the treatment.

Three out of the six victims of this accident, who were critical have been referred to JMC, Jammu for further treatment.

The injured have been indentified as Anil Kumar s/o Bishan Bahadur r/o Nepal, Ved Prakash s/o Som Prakash r/o Hoshiarpur, Punjab, Akshay Kumar s/o Manohar Lal r/o Teli Basti, Bari brahama, Naresh Kumar s/o Kewal Krishan r/o Hoshiarpur, Punjab, Roshan Thappa s/o Jamuna r/o Nepal.

Man caught on camera raping dog

A shocking video of a man raping a stray dog has left animal activists and pet lovers in fury. The footage was shared on social media by many people who slammed the act of animal cruelty and stated the incident to have taken place at Delhi’s Hari Nagar area.

When an animal feeder spotted the incident and caught it on camera, they also approached the police to file a case and report the crime. However, a screenshot from a WhatsApp chat hints the police officials denied taking cognisance of the dog being raped. “SHO convinced him to not file a complaint and said that let the guy come again 2-3 days later then they will take action…”

Amidst the ongoing Global Kashmiri Pandit Conclave in New Delhi which has entered in its second day after its inaugural on yesterday, another Kashmiri Pandit has been killed by the terrorists operating in the valley on Sunday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Global Kashmiri pandit conclave, the Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora co-founder, Dr Surinder Kaul, said, “Its really a sad news that amidst this conclave we have heard that again a Kashmiri pandit has been killed in kashmir, which indicates that how serious the situation is in the valley right now”.

He added: “Target killing of kashmiri pandits is still going on whether one links it with our conclave or not the target killings are not stopping”.

“Now, after the abrogation of article-370 the terrorists are killing people as per their wish and comfort there”, he alleged.

“The Home ministry should understand that the more delay they will do in comprehending the situation in Kashmir, the more it’s bringing our community closer to the extinction”, he lamented.

“I appeal to Home minister to review your kashmir policy, we know that you’re working on it without any suspicion, but the results are different on the ground”, he said.

“This attack has happened during our conference and now we will decide whether to do a protest or what else to do”, he remarked.

“This is blackmailing and exploitation because the govt is forcing the PM package employees to join the services in the valley amidst the target killings”, he asserted.

“One of the crucial fundamental right guaranteed by our constitution is ‘right to live’ and if one is not feeling secure in kashmir, then the govt should not coercively send them there”, he said.

“The target killings are continuously being carried out and so is our genocide, people from Sikh, Dalit and Dogra community have also been killed in their offices in Kashmir”, he further said.

“If the govt further delays their review of security measures in the Kashmir region then this killings will not halt, they are not able to fathom the worsened situation there”, Koul said.

3 J&K Govt Employees terminated from service

The Jammu and Kashmir government has terminated the services of three of its employees under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution of India, over alleged terror links.

The terminated staffers are Mohammed Mir Andrabi, Syed Hameed Yatoo, Arif Sheikh dismissed from services for terror links in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police, army and CRPF recovered nearly 3 kilograms of “heroin-like” substance and arrested three persons in connection with it in Poonch district on Sunday, officials said.

They said a search operation was launched police along with army’s 5 Jakli and CRPF in Degwar village in Poonch early morning. During the search operation, he said, approximately 3 kgs Narcotics (heroine- like substance) was recovered from bushes on the disclosure of 3 persons Mohammad Jhangir son of Mohammad Sadiq Sheikh, Mohammad Aslam son of Mohammad Sadiq and Mohammad Bashir son of Haji Bulaha. All three persons have also been arrested formally, they added.

A police officer said that a case has been registered and further investigations in this regard are continuing.

In a significant statement, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today announced that implementation of the Property Tax in Jammu and Kashmir shall be done in consultation with general public and interests of the common citizens will be protected.

Sinha said this in a brief statement issued on the imposition of Property Tax in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Implementation (of Property Tax) shall be done in consultation with general public. Common citizens’ interest will be protected,” the statement issued by the Lieutenant Governor said.

The statement comes close on the heels of opposition to Property Tax by almost all political parties and organizations.

Asserting that welfare of the citizens is foremost priority of the Government, Sinha said the Property Tax will ensure financial self-sustainability of cities and improvement of public amenities in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said our cities must witness rapid development and emerge as engines of growth.
For this, he added, financial self-sustainability of cities is necessary.

“Property Tax in Jammu and Kashmir will be one of the lowest in the country and will be used for improving public amenities,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The Lieutenant Governor’s statement that Property Tax shall be implemented in consultation with general public assumed significance as it indicated that the people will be taken into confidence.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration had on Tuesday ordered the imposition of Property Tax in Municipal areas from April 1, drawing strong protests from people from almost all walks of life. Political parties are demanding an immediate rollback of the order.

As per the Government notification, the tax rates will be five per cent of the taxable annual value for residential properties and six per cent for commercial properties.

The administration has already clarified that Property Tax being imposed in Jammu and Kashmir is one of the lowest in the country and that residential property up to 1000 square feet has been exempted from the purview of tax.

Speaking at a function here yesterday, Sinha criticised those opposing the introduction of Property Tax, saying, “We want every facility but are not ready to pay for anything. People need to rethink this.”

Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir Rayees Muhammad Bhat on Sunday said that terrorists involved in Pulwama killing will be tracked down soon.

Bhat told media that some unknown gunmen fired at a minority community member at Achan area of Pulwama.

Jammu:
Three  Khair-wood  smugglers from Sumb area of Samba in Jammu, who were inspired after watching the movie ‘Pushpa’, tried to smuggle Khair-wood in true movie style. Allu Arjun-starrer Telugu movie Pushpa’s dialogues and songs became so much famous when it was released, the people along with celebrities across fields began to imitate its dialouges and song sequences in the whole country.

According to the report, three thieves  from Sumb area of Samba, who were inspired by the tricks of the movie tried to replicate the same trick, while smuggling the green gold in the form of  ‘Khair trees’ in real life, yesterday.

The burglars used  to cut the trees in the dead of the night  in the aforementioned place and used to smuggle them, this has been going from a while. But, yesterday the Samba police nabbed the three culprits and put them behind bars.

Three smugglers have been identified as Anil Kumar s/o Ramesh Chand r/o village Nanetar, Samba, Balraj Singh s/o Krishan Singh r/o village Markoli, Samba, Kamal Singh s/o Chan Singh, Sumb, Samba.

The police is currently interrogating the accused persons to ascertain the chances whether a whole gang involved in this matter or not, the report said.

38-year-old man kills wife, 2 sons including 4-month-old baby

A 38-year-old man tried to end his life after killing his wife and two sons, including a four-month-old infant, over financial issues in west Delhi’s Mohan Garden area on Sunday, police said.

They said the incident was reported from Vipin Garden. The man, identified as Rajesh (38), allegedly killed his 35-year-old wife and two sons aged five years and four months.

After killing his wife and sons, Rajesh inflicted a deep injury on his wrist, police said, adding that he is under treatment in a hospital.

The accused had sent messages to his friends in the early hours of Sunday about his financial woes. His friends alerted his brother, who informed the police around 6 am, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M Harsha Vardhan said.
