Kathua Campus celebrated 77th Independence Day

Kathua Campus, University of Jammu celebrated “77th Independence Day” based on the theme “Meri Maati Mera Desh”-“Maati ko Naman Veeron Ka Vandan” in its campus at Janglote, Kathua wherein Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector Kathua Campus was the Chief Guest and Balbir Singh, Sarpanch Janglote Panchyat, Retired Army Personals and Retired J&K Police Officers were Guest of Honour.

The celebration started with the Flag hoisting ceremony in the Campus by the Rector, Kathua Campus after which the national anthem was also recited. “Amrit Vaatika” was also curated by planting 75 native species of the plants by the Chief Guest and retired service personals. Mr. Amit Sharma Students Welfare, Kathua Campus welcomed the guests and the members from civil society. Dr. Meenakshi Kilam Rector, Kathua Campus in her address stresses upon on the theme of freedom, unity and diversity.

She Appreciated and recognized the services of Ex-servicemen for safeguarding the nation and giving their best years of life for the society. She felicitated the more than 40 Ex-service men for their valor and sacrifices. She also apprised about the extra co-curricular activities of the campus. In her address she also gave the blueprint for the comprehensive development of the campus.

While speaking on the Occasion Captain Gyan Singh Pathania, Chairman, J&K Ex-Serviceman Welfare Association Kathua said that sacrifices of the armed forces to safeguard the nation from the external enemies and natural calamities should inspire the youth to serve the nation and uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation.

Balbir Singh, Sarpanch, Janglote Panchyat said that Kathua has emerged as industrial hub and multitude of industries are coming up in various sectors. As such students from Kathua campus must avail this opportunity to render their services as per their training in the professional courses like MCA and MBA and contribute to development of Kathua.

He appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and narcotics and contribute to nation building. The Panch Pran pledge was also taken during the program by all. Patriotic songs were sung on the occasion by Dr Pankaj Khajuria, Dr Sourabh Shastri, Mr Lalit Sharma and Ms Ankush.

The proceedings of the event were conducted by Ms Kamakshi and Ms Ankush. Academic. A formal vote of thanks was presented by Ms Ankush. Among others Dr. Vivek Sharma, Academic Coordinator, Dr Sourabh Shastri, I/c MCA/UIET, Dr Pankaj Khajuria Assistant Registrar, Dr Narinder Sharma Junior Scientist, Jammu University, Dr Zahin Ansari I/c MBA, Ms Tiharika Nath Faculty MBA, Ms Ritika Goyal Faculty MCA were present.
