JKP constable, who was shot dead in J&K, awarded ‘Shaurya Chakra’
Saifullah Qadri, a Selection Grade Constable (SgCT) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, has been honoured with the Shaurya Chakra by the Ministry of Defence on Independence Day.
Saifullah Qadri, JKP constable, awarded Shaurya Chakra posthumously by the Ministry of Defence on 15 August 2023.
In response to this announcement, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh conveyed his congratulations to the family of the brave heart. He also expressed gratitude towards the Ministry of Defence for bestowing this significant honour upon the J&K Police.
DGP Singh emphasised that such recognition of the valor and sacrifices of the J&K Police will undoubtedly bolster the morale of the force’s personnel in their ongoing battles against various forms of terrorism within the Union Territory.
SgCt Saifullah Qadri’s extraordinary actions on 10 April 2022, were instrumental in locating and killing two terrorists in Srinagar’s Bishamber Nagar area.
That day, he was accompanying his daughter when militants opened fire on him near Soura. He later succumbed to his injuries. His daughter, 9, also received bullet injuries in the attack.
