Family of Youth who dies mysteriously stages protest in Jammu, demands action

Jammu: The  family members of a 19-year-old youth on Tuesday who died mysteriously in a shop in SIDCO Industrial complex, Phase-2 yesterday held a protest with locals and blocked the Jammu-Pathankot National highway at Roper chowk of Samba by placing the dead body in the middle of the road demanding justice and police action for their son.

As per report, the matter came to fore when the deceased, identified as Amit Chaudhary , a resident of Roper area of Samba, was found mysteriously dead in the mentioned area after which his family members and villagers staged a protest and demanded a probe into the matter.

“He was a 19 year old boy who belonged to a poor farming family. During the day he used to work with his father in their fields.

“But from past several days he was working in a weighing machine shop in his brother’s place in the night.

“He routinely went to his duty in the shop yesterday at 8pm and today’s morning his parents were informed that their son is no more.

“Nobody told them how and when their son died.  When the deceased’s parents went to the shop they found the shop’s windows broken and their son’s body thrown on the road.

“The police or someone who were present at the spot took victim’s parents sign on a paper as they are unlettered and apprised them to take their son’s body home.

“When they reached home with the dead body the local Sarpanch and Panch told them that they will conduct the deceased’s post-mortem.

“When the deceased’s autopsy was conducted it came to fore that there are black marks on the victim’s body, which we don’t know about how they appear.

“The owner of the shop is still at large he called their parents but didn’t came in his shop. We want to know how he died and why his body was thrown out of the shop.

“He was working in SIDCO industrial area Phase-2 that area is a hotspot of drugs, prostitution, burglary and there is no police there.

“He left for the shop at 4:30pm and apprised that he has a night duty after that I called my son at 10pm and he told me that he will sleep after dinner.

“I got information at dawn that my son has passed away. He has marks on his body and the owner of the shop didn’t came here to take cognisance of what happened at his shop.

“We demand justice and an inquiry from the authorities”, said, Mr Kulwinder Singh, Father of the deceased.

Upon receiving the information, police officials reached the spot and assured the kin of the deceased and villagers that they would take stringent action against the accused. The agitators and body of the victim was still on the road when the report was last filed. However, the victim’s family has claimed that their son is  murdered and didn’t died a natural death.
