Jammu: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday addressing a gathering of people in Chiralla village of Doda in a Govt school said that Kashmiri Muslims were converted to Islam from Kashmiri Pandits and there was Hinduism prior to Islam here.

Addressing a gathering of people in Chiralla village of Doda, Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad, said, “In India Islam came into existence 1500 years ago while Hinduism is older than Islam.

“There must be 10-20 Muslims who might be soldiers in the Mughal army and who came to India.

“Otherwise whole India is Hindu and it’s instance is present in Kashmir. There were no Muslims in Kashmir 600 hundreds ago and all were Kashmiri Pandits there.

“The Kashmiri Pandits accepted Islam that’s why I said that everyone was born in Hindu religion.

“Our Hindu brothers cremate their deceased persons and immerse the deceased’s ashes in water, which go into water bodies.

“That water is also used in irrigation and that is again consume by us in the form of crops. Likewise Muslims bury their deceased and which ultimately mix with soil.

“Both Hindus and Muslims will return to soil finally and all this is politics. Those who take the help of religion in politics are weak.

“There is no concern of religion with politics. People shouldn’t take votes in the  name of religion.

“If one take votes in the name of religion then it hinders the progress of the country and spreads hatred.

“There is no place of religion in our party. We should come together to work for the development of our state”, Azad appealed to people.
