Jammu, 2 August: A man is reported dengue positive in Kathua’s ward no’4, today.

The case came to the limelight, when a man got diagnosed with dengue in a rapid malaria test.

A flying squad member of DHS malaria department, Kathua while speaking to media said that today they received a mail in which  they were informed that a man has been reported dengue positive in Kathua and when they reached the spot to check the said case , they found that the patient’s father was also showing the similar symptoms. They advised both patients to visit the Government Medical College for further examination.

Continuing he said that the CMO has advised the local  hospital labs  to take sample of these cases and report them on regular basis or either as soon as possible so that necessary measures can be put in place on time for the general public, but the local hospital staff don’t check our mails daily due to which such cases go unchecked.

Moreover, they observed that the local residents  have not taken any safety  measures like clearing stagnant water, clean their surroundings to stop the breeding of the malaria larvae in their vicinity, instead they witnessed the dengue larva  growing in their water storages.

He said that they also informed the residents to take preventive measures like to cover their exposed bodies with long clothes, to use mosquito repellents and to change the stagnant water in their houses every week so that dengue  can be kept away.

Past three  months ,we are running door-to-door campaign in Govindsar to make people aware about the ways to prevent this disease. Use boiled water for drinking and change stored water on frequent basis are some of the precautions that can be taken by the people to save themselves from dengue fever, he said.
