Power cuts will continue to trouble people amid rising temperatures in the Jammu division. As the heatwave is increasing, so is the electricity demand. In such a situation, unable to meet the power demand, the electricity corporation has been forced to make declared and unannounced cuts. Moreover, due to the non-availability of regular electricity, the Jal Shakti Department cannot provide water to the people through tap despite having sufficient water.

Seeing the way the weather has adopted, there is no hope of getting relief from this electricity and water problem soon. Therefore, the electricity department has prepared a cut schedule so that people can complete their important work before the cut. By dividing the city, which is facing unannounced power cuts for hours in a day, the Power Development Corporation has issued a schedule of six-six-hour cuts and the cuts will be sequential. Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited has divided the city into Group A and B.

Group A includes Gandhinagar, Bahu Plaza and some part of Trikuta Nagar, receiving station, Gandhi Nagar and part of Nanak Nagar, receiving station, Green Belt, Gandhi Nagar, Gol Market and adjoining areas of the receiving station, Railway Complex, Transport Nagar and Chhani Kamala, Trikuta Nagar, Gangyal, Preet Nagar, Bahu Fort, Gorka Nagar, Karan Bagh, Gadigarh, Ashok Nagar, Digyana, Shastri Nagar, Greater Kailash, Langar, Apna Vihar, Kunjwani, Bandhu Rakh, have been kept.

Group B included Nanak Nagar and part of Shastri Nagar, Chhani Himmat, Chauadi, Malik Market, Bathindi, Sujwan, Gangyal, Preet Nagar, Babliana, Jeevan Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Tawi Vihar Sidra, Chatha, Hakal, Satwari, Narwal Pai, Ashok Nagar, Sainik Colony, etc. have been kept.

These areas are divided into two parts, one day the electricity will be closed from nine to eleven in the morning, one to three, five to six and ten to eleven in the night, and the other group from eleven o’clock to one o’clock in the afternoon, three o’clock in the evening. The electricity will remain off from 6 pm to 7 pm and from 11 pm to 12 pm.

This sequence will change the next day, i.e. in the area where the cut started at 9 in the morning on the first day, the schedule of cuts will continue from 11 o’clock in the day.
