J&K Anganwadi workers protest against new HR Policy

Anganwadi workers in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday held a protest demonstration against the newly approved Human Resource (HR) Policy, demanding the policy be revoked.

Protestors said the policy framed by the government is totally unacceptable and should be revoked immediately.

“If the government is claiming of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’, is this how they are going to save the future of Beti’s across the country,” they said.

They said they will continue their protest till the order is revoked. “We welcome the retirement policy but what about afterwards,” they asked.

Notably, the government in November this year approved the proposal of comprehensive Human Resource Policy to govern the engagement, leaves, promotion and other important aspects of this very vital work force of the department.

Alone at home, minor girl raped by man in Jammu

Jammu, December 19, 2022: A horrendous case has appeared in which a man raped a minor girl when she was alone at her home, today.

According to the report, the incident happened when the victim was alone at her house, when a man came and raped her. There was no one in the house when the felony took place as all the victim’s family members were outside because of work.

The man has been identified as a resident of Haryana state who lives in Janipur, Jammu. He is currently absconding from the police.

The local police has started an investigation into this matter and assured that they will soon nab the culprit to deliver justice to the victim.

I prefer India, best place: Dalai Lama over Tawang clash

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, on Monday, said that India is a perfect place and his permanent residence and that he prefers India.

While responding to a query over the Tawang clash, Dalai Lama at Kangra airport in Himachal Pradesh said, “Now things… General speaking, things are improving, I think in Europe and Africa and also in Asia. Now China also now more flexible. Ok. But there is no point to return to China. I prefer India, best place and Kangra, Pandit Nehru choice. This place is my permanent residence. It’s very right. Thank you.”

“Medical checkup. Otherwise so basic sort of physical condition no problem. There is little pain (shows his left arm near shoulder) otherwise no problem,” he added while giving details about his health updates.

This statement came in the backdrop of December 9 clash where People’s Liberation Army troops contacted the LAC in Tawang Sector which was contested by Indian troops in a firm and resolute manner. This face-off led to minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides.

Giving a statement in the Rajya Sabha, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh explained to the House about an incident and said, “On December 9, 2022, PLA troops tried to transgress the LAC in the Yangtse area of Tawang Sector and unilaterally change the status quo. The Chinese attempt was contested by our troops in a firm and resolute manner. The ensuing face-off led to a physical scuffle in which the Indian Army bravely prevented the PLA from transgressing into our territory and compelled them to return to their posts.”

He further said “the scuffle led to injuries to a few personnel on both sides”, and clarified that “there are no fatalities or serious casualties on our side”.

“Due to timely intervention of Indian military commanders, PLA soldiers went back to their locations,” Singh said.

As a follow-up of the incident, the Minister further said, local commander in the area held a “flag meeting with his counterpart on December 11, 2022 to discuss the issue in accordance with established mechanisms”.

“The Chinese side was asked to refrain from such actions and maintain peace and tranquility along the border. The issue has also been taken up with the Chinese side through diplomatic channels,” Singh said.

Meanwhile, Tibetan spiritual leader is scheduled to stay in Delhi for 2-3 days and then he will go to Bodhgya in Bihar for spiritual teachings and other events. Apart from few meetings and events in Delhi, there will be a health checkup in Delhi.

Man steals cycle of scrap dealer in Jammu

Jammu, December 19,2022:  In a shocking incident, a man allegedly stole a cycle parked near Gangyal Fire Station, Jammu belonging to a  labourer from Bihar who works as a scrap dealer in Jammu.

According to the report, the burglar stole the cycle when its owner parked it near the fire station in Gangyal to buy vegetables and when he came back his cycle was missing from its spot.

After the theft, the thief went to a shop of a local scrap dealer who refused to buy it from him on suspicion.

“We are poor and my work is dependent on my cycle. I earn my daily bread by selling and buying  scrap from people. It was my only source of income and I request Gangyal police station to arrest the burglar who has been caught on CCTV camera of scrap shop, when he went to sell my cycle there and recover it  from him as soon as possible”, the victim said.

Fake currency worth ₹138 crore seized in three years: Govt data

New Delhi: In the last three years i. e. from 2019 to 2021, fake currency notes worth over Rs 137 crore have been seized by the police and other security forces. The high value of counterfeit currency being caught each year signals an increase in their circulation in the country.

Among the Rs 137,96,17,270 fake currency caught in the last three years, new notes of Rs 2,000 also amounted to crores in face value. Fake currency is mostly traded or smuggled from Pakistan and is sent to India across the border among other routes.

According to the Home Ministry data, fake notes of face value Rs 137,96,17,270 were caught from 2019 to 2021. In 2021, 3,10,066 lakh fake notes worth over Rs 20 crore were seized while as many as 8,34,947 lakh fake notes having a face value of over Rs 92 crore were confiscated in 2020. The number of fake notes caught in 2019 was 2,87,404 lakh worth over Rs 25 crore.
Rs 500, Rs 2,000 fake notes in circulation
Counterfeit currency of the denominations of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 were seized in large amounts in the last three years, according to the Home Ministry. In 2021, fake Rs 2,000 notes worth over Rs 4 crore were seized while the face value of fake Rs 500 was Rs 12,57,99,000 crore.
During the Covid pandemic year in 2020, as many as 2,44,834 lakh notes of Rs 2,000 were confiscated while 90,566,000 fake notes in 2019.
The MHA apprised that the figures did not indicate any specific pattern regarding the circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN).
The Reserve Bank of India has prepared a strategy to curb counterfeit notes, reportedly taking various measures, including raising security standards on bank notes, to make counterfeiting difficult and costly and organising awareness programmes for the public.

J&K Police arrests LeT terrorist, arms and ammunition recovered

Police on Monday said that it along with the army arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) Over Ground Worker (OGW) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The police spokesman said that “based on a specific input, an operation was carried out on 18.12.22 by joint parties of police and 32 RR, leading to arrest of one militant associate viz. Mohd. Ishaq Lone s/o Bashir Ahmed Lone, r/o Village Nadihal, PS Panzalla, PD Sopore from village Chakloo Baramulla”.

On his disclosure, the following recoveries were made from near Chakloo Ziyarat, Village Chakloo

The police spokesman further stated that “from his possession one Canister IED, 1 pistol, 1 pistol magazine, 18 rounds of pistol and 8 meters of Electric Wire”.

In this regard, a case FIR u/s of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Explosive Substances Act and Arms Act has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and an investigation was taken up, he said.

“The timely arrest with arms, ammunition and explosive material has averted major militant attacks like targeted killings in Baramulla/ adjoining areas, targeted attacks on convoy vehicles of SFs and has saved the precious lives of innocent civilians,” said police spokesman in a statement.

J&K: One dies as tractor overturns

A labourer died on the spot after he tractor overturned in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday morning.

The incident occurred in Malpora village of Sub-Division Khag.

Police sources identified the victim as Asfhaq Ahmed Ghazi, a resident of Narsingpora Khag.
Sources added that the tractor driver also sustained injuries and was shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law.

From now on, local Auqaf Committees will have no legal standing: J&K Waqf Board

J&K Waqf Board has said that all local Auqaf Committees from now on will have now no legal effect or standing in Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Executive Officer J&K Waqf Board issued an order on December 17 stating that the Board has taken overall control of all shrines and other properties in Jammu and Kashmir and all the local Waqf or Auqaf Committees shall be deemed as void ab-initio throughout J&K.

“In Pursuance to Waqf Act, 1995 extended to Jammu & Kashmir (UT) with the constitution of new J&K Waqf Board has taken overall control of all the Shrines including other Assets / Properties under the Muslim Specified Waqf in whole UT of Jammu & Kashmir, the order said.

It said that no association / self-styled local Auqaf Committee / Management have any legal standing under the provisions of the Central Waqf Act, 1995.

“No such Committee has any kind of registration of validation from J&K Waqf Board,” the order said.

“It is hereby notified that all the local Waqf / Auqaf Committees shall be deemed as void ab-initio throughout J&K & any kind of interference by such local Waqf Committees be reckoned illegal & to invite action under Law on all the Waqf Units managed by J&K Waqf Board.”

“Therefore all Government Departments & the general public is informed that any communication of any such local committee at any Waqf Unit may not be entertained. This order is issued to ensure a smooth, systematic, transparent & legally viable management system, at all the Waqf Units throughout Jammu and Kashmir, ” it said.

J&K: Tourist found dead in hotel

A domestic tourist was found dead in a hotel in Kashmir capital Srinagar.

Sources said that the dead body of a 45-year-old domestic tourist namely Jatinder Kumar of Dhaloti Kathua, Jammu was found in the room of a hotel in Srinagar where he was staying.

Sources added that prima facie it seems a natural death. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case under relevant sections of law.
