Bandh call in THESE parts of Jammu

Jammu, January 03, 2023: The Sanatan Dharma Sabha units of Kishtwar, Doda and Bhaderwah gave a bandh call on Tuesday in protest against the gruesome Rajouri terror attacks in which six people have been killed so far by the terrorists at Dangri village of Rajouri.

According to the report, the Sanatan Dharma Sabha units of the aforementioned places today gave a Bandh call to observe complete shutdown in Kishtwar, Doda, Bhaderwah of Jammu region to express their agitation against  Rajouri terror attacks and to support the victim families of this felony.

“Along with Sanatan Dharma Sabha, the local Muslim religious organisations also extended their support for the Bandh, the report said.

“Massive protests were held in Rajouri against the killings on Sunday and Monday, with people holding the administration responsible for failing to ensure security”, as per a report.

Yesterday,  LG Manoj Sinha  met the victims’ families as well as local leaders to express his condolences.

On Monday, the J&K administration announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to each of those killed Sunday— Pritam Sharma, 56, his 33-year-old son Ashish Kumar, Deepak Kumar, 23, a PHE employee, and Sheetal Kumar, 48. A government job will also be given to the next of kin of each of the four victims.

LG Manoj Sinha condemned the “cowardly terror attack” and announced best possible medical treatment as well as Rs 1 lakh to each of the wounded: Pawan Kumar, Saroj Bala, her 17-year-old daughter Arushi Sharma, Sushil Kumar, Rohit Pandit and Shubam Sharma, 20.

In all, six died and 15 were wounded in a little over 12 hours, comparable to some of the most gruesome killings recorded in J&K during the peak of separatist insurgency in the 1990s.

MHA sets up high-powered panel for land, employment safeguards for Ladakh UT

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has constituted a high-powered committee to discuss safeguards for Union Territory of Ladakh.

According to an order, the committee will be headed by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanad Rai.

“It has been decided to constitute a High Powered Committee (HPC) under the chairmanship of Shri Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Gol, for the Union Territory of Ladakh,” reads the order.

As per the order, the committee has been set up to discuss measures to protect the region’s unique culture and language taking into consideration its geographical location and its strategic importance.

The committee will also discuss measures to ensure protection of land and employment for the people of Ladakh, the order states.

It will also discuss measures for inclusive development and employment generation in the region empowerment of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh and Kargil.

 

Jaydev Unadkat becomes 1ST bowler to pick hat-trick in 1st over in Ranji

Saurashtra captain and Team India pacer Jaydev Unadkat continued his dream run, becoming the first-ever bowler to claim a hat-trick in the first over of a Ranji Trophy match. Unadkat bowling against Delhi in a Ranji Trophy game in Rajkot on Tuesday (January 3), dismissed opener Dhruv Shorey for a duck off the third ball of the opening over to open the flood gates.

No. 3 Delhi batter Vaibhav Rawal was then caught by Hardik Desai off the first ball and Delhi skipper Yash Dhull was dismissed for a first-ball duck as well as Unadkat completed a historic hat-trick. Irfan Pathan from India was the first bowler to pick up a hat-trick in the first over of a Test match but Unadkat is the first to achieve this feat in a Ranji Trophy game.

 

Dense fog envelops Jammu

Intense cold gripped Ladakh and Kashmir Valley and dense fog Jammu city in the morning on Tuesday. People were also seen commuting amid heavy fog and low visibility.

Jammu recorded a low of 3.6°C against 4.2°C on the previous night. It was 3.7°C below normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.

Regarding the forecast, the MeT official said mainly clear weather was expected till January 6. “Expect further fall in minimum temperature across J&K,” he said, adding, “On January 7, weather is expected to be cloudy and from January 8-10, weather is expected to be cloudy with possibility of  snowfall and rain (in plains of Jammu) at many places of J&K (70% chance).”

Kashmir is under the grip of Chillai-Kalan, the 40-day long harsh winter period that started on December 21.

JMC to intensify work on Solid Waste Mgmt under ‘Mera Shehar Sabse Sunder’: Jammu Mayor

Jammu Mayor Rajinder Sharma said that Jammu Municipal Corporation is very particular towards Solid Waste Management System especially segregation of waste at the door steps of each household.

The Mayor announced that Jammu Municipal Corporation is going to launch the implementation of Solid Waste Management System and Segregation of the waste in a big way so that the slogan given by him ‘Mera Shehar Sabse Sunder’ may come true.

The Mayor said that Solid Waste Management and sanitation will play a vital role in the beautification of the City. “Solid Waste Management and sanitation is an essential service in any society. It is to be ensured that no household, shops etc throw litter on the road and a systematic process be introduced for keeping the Jammu city clean.”

The Mayor said that major components are involved in better management of Municipal Solid Waste in any city i.e Segregation, Collection and Transportation, Processing and Disposal of the waste.

JAMMU, JANUARY 2: Chief Engineer (Distribution), JPDCL Jammu has informed that the power supply to Gharota, Ranjan, Navodya, Amb, Vidyalaya, Kot Bhalwal, Kalri Seri, Karwanda, Kalagan, Central Jail, MIET, Floura, M/C Domana, Machallian and adjoining areas shall remain affected on January 03 from 9 am to 2 pm.

Similarly, the power supply to Akalpur, Udheywala, Sangrampur, Lale-De-Bagh, Nagbani, DPS School Manorma Vihar, Adheywala, Anand Nagar, Domana, Lower Machlian, Nagbani and adjoining areas shall remain affected on January 03 from 10 am to 2 pm.

Rajouri terror attack: LG meets families of victims, promises justice

Jammu and Kashmir’s Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha on Monday met the family members of civilians killed in the heinous terror attack in Rajouri and expressed his condolences. He assured the family members about the support of the entire nation as well as the government.

He further assured them that the administration is committed to looking after the needs and issues of all the families. Subsequently, he held a meeting with the Sarpanch of Dangri village, DDC, BDC members and the families of those killed.

“We have given full freedom to the security forces and I want to assure the people that the perpetrators of this attack will be punished soon. Terrorists will have to pay a very heavy price for this despicable attack. It is our firm resolve to crush terrorists and terror ecosystem,” Lt Governor observed during the meeting.

He also said that the Village Development Committee VDC will be strengthened immediately and an in-depth investigation will be carried out into the incident. He also visited the site of the attack followed by a security meeting with top officials of JKP, CAPF and the Army at the District Headquarters.

J&K LG Sinha visits the terror attack location at upper Dangri village in Rajouri

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reached the attack site in Rajouri where six people, including two kids, were killed in an attack carried out by terrorists.

The attack was executed using an IED which exploded killing over a dozen people and killing a 4-year-old and a 5-year-old apart from four adults. L-G Sinha reached Rajouri where he met the protesting locals.

Before L-G Sinha’s arrival at the spot, the locals staged a protest over the death of their people and against the Kashmir administration. After meeting the protestors, he assured them of taking the necessary steps to bring the terrorists to justice.

 

Rahul Gandhi To Hoist National Flag In Srinagar On January 30

The Bharat Jodo Yatra will resume its second leg of the journey from Delhi on January 3 after covering nine states and a Union Territory in its first leg and will end it with the hoisting of the national flag by Rahul Gandhi in Srinagar on January 30.

Addressing a joint press conference here, AICC general secretary organisation K C Venugopal and AICC general secretary, communications Jairam Ramesh, said the Bharat Jodo Yatra has so far covered 3,122 km from Gandhi Mandapam in Kanyakumari to the Red Fort in Delhi.

Over the 108 days, the Yatra has covered 49 districts in nine states and one Union Territory — Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi.

”The Yatra will continue from Delhi on January 3, walking through Uttar Pradesh from the same day to January 5, Haryana from January 6 to 10, Punjab from January 11 to 20 and spending one day in Himachal Pradesh on January 19.

”The Yatra will enter Jammu and Kashmir on the evening of January 20 and will end with a flag hoisting on Srinagar on January 30,” Venugopal said.
