HARYANA OCT 11: Senior Haryana cop and Superintendent of Police, Rohatk, Narendra Bijarniya has been removed from his post after being named in the case related to the alleged suicide of IPS officer Puran Kumar. Surinder Singh Bhoria has replaced Bijarniya as the SP of Rohtak. No post has been given to Bijarniya as of now.

This move comes after Kumar’s wife, IAS officer Amneet Puran Kumar, filed a formal complaint at the police station, naming Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor, the Rohtak SSP, and other senior officials, citing harassment and abetment.
Her complaint demanded FIRs and arrests of the senior officers named in the suicide note, security for her family, and protection of their rights. Following her complaint, an FIR was registered against 13 officers.

Sonia Gandhi has written to Amneet Kumar, saying that the death of Puran Kumar reminds how even senior Dalit bureaucrats are deprived of social equality. “His patriotism and commitment will continue to remind us that the sacrifice and dedication of our elders inspire even senior officials to serve the nation selflessly,” Sonia Gandhi added.

Leaders including Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Randeep Surjewala, and Rahul Gandhi have called for immediate justice. Dalit organisations gathered outside the Chief Minister’s residence, demanding FIRs against the DGP, SSP, and other senior officers, warning of statewide protests if action was delayed.

On October 7, Y Puran Kumar, senior Haryana IPS officer, shot himself dead at his Chandigarh residence and named 12 officers in his 9-page suicide note accusing them of mental harassment. Kumar’s note included a will bequeathing all his property to his wife.

In the note, recovered from his pocket, he alleged harassment, discrimination, and administrative bias, as per sources. According to sources, the note accuses a DGP-rank officer of repeatedly harassing him by issuing unnecessary notices. Kumar also named 7–8 IPS and 2 IAS officers, alleging administrative interference, discrimination in postings, and bias in official reviews (ACRs).

A six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by IG Pushpendra Kumar, has been constituted by Chandigarh Police to investigate the alleged suicide of Haryana ADGP Y Puran Kumar.

ACB Cracks Major Evacuee Property Land Scam in Srinagar

Srinagar Oct 11 : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has launched a criminal investigation into a large-scale evacuee property land scam involving senior government officials and private beneficiaries. The case centers on the illegal exchange and manipulation of prime evacuee land located on Gupkar Road, one of Srinagar’s most valuable areas.

While addressing press conference, Senior Superintendent Police, ACB Javid Hassan said that officials from the Revenue Department and the Custodian Evacuee Property Department colluded with private individuals to execute an unlawful land swap. About 17 marlas of evacuee land were exchanged with property of far lesser value at another site.

The exchange was carried out without the mandatory No Objection Certificate from the Defence Estates Office and in violation of Jammu and Kashmir High Court directions. Investigators found that the officials deliberately ignored legal procedures, falsified land records, and approved fake revenue entries to benefit private parties.

The enquiry revealed that tenancy columns and revenue extracts were tampered with to disguise ownership details. The evacuee property on Gupkar Road holds both high commercial and strategic value, making the manipulation a serious breach of public trust.

The ACB found that mandatory scrutiny and NOC requirements were intentionally bypassed, pointing to a premeditated conspiracy. The alleged acts constitute criminal misconduct, forgery, abuse of position, and conspiracy, causing significant financial loss to the government.

An FIR No. 19/2025 has been registered at ACB Police Station Srinagar under sections 5(1)(d) read with 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, and Section 120-B of the RPC.

The investigation is ongoing to uncover the full conspiracy, trace illegal financial transactions, and fix individual accountability. The ACB has stated that further arrests and departmental actions are likely.

The Bureau urged citizens to stay alert and report any corruption or illegal dealings involving public servants through its official helpline and communication channels.

BJP MLAs Summoned to Srinagar Ahead of Rajya Sabha Elections in J&K

Srinagar, Oct 11, 2025: Ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir, all BJP MLAs from the Union Territory have been summoned to Srinagar, party sources confirmed. The party is set to field candidates for all four Rajya Sabha seats, signaling a coordinated effort to consolidate its strength among legislators.

Highly placed sources revealed that a seven-member panel has been sent to the BJP high command for final approval of the candidates. The official announcement of the nominees is expected tomorrow. This panel, consisting of senior party functionaries, has reportedly been tasked with finalizing the names to ensure strategic representation in the Upper House.

In preparation for the polls, the BJP has organized a mock voting exercise for its MLAs. The exercise aims to familiarize legislators with the voting procedure, streamline coordination, and ensure a disciplined approach during the actual election. BJP President Sat Sharma, along with central party leaders, is scheduled to address the media tomorrow, providing updates on the candidate list and the party’s strategy for the Rajya Sabha polls.

The Rajya Sabha elections in J&K are being closely monitored, as they come at a politically sensitive time following the recent assembly elections. With the BJP holding 28 seats in the 88-member Assembly, the party is keen to leverage its legislative strength while negotiating with allied or supporting members to secure its nominees. Analysts note that the move to organize mock polls indicates the BJP’s focus on minimizing errors and maintaining internal cohesion during the voting process.

The announcement of the candidates is expected to set the tone for intense political activity in the Union Territory, with other regional parties also strategizing their approach to the Upper House elections. The opposition is likely to carefully observe the BJP’s nominations and voting arrangements, potentially influencing alliances and support patterns in the coming days.

Political observers say the Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir are not only a test of party strength but also a reflection of the ongoing political dynamics in the region. The BJP’s efforts to finalize candidates and prepare its legislators signal the party’s intention to play a decisive role in the Upper House, while closely managing its internal and external alliances.

ED Arrests Reliance Power CFO In ‘Fake’ Bank Guarantee-Linked PMLA Case

ED Arrests Reliance Power CFO In ‘Fake’ Bank Guarantee-Linked PMLA Case

New Delhi, Oct 11: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested the CFO of industrialist Anil Ambani’s group company Reliance Power in a money laundering case linked to issuance of an alleged fake bank guarantee of Rs 68 crore, official sources said on Saturday.

Ashok Pal was taken into custody on Friday night under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after he was questioned by the agency, they said.

He will be produced before a special court on Saturday and the agency will seek his remand for custodial interrogation, according to the sources.

The case pertains to a bank guarantee of Rs 68.2 crore submitted to the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) on behalf of Reliance NU BESS Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Power, which was found to be “fake”.

The company was formerly known as Maharashtra Energy Generation Limited.

The accused company, which allegedly operated a racket for providing “fake” bank guarantees for business groups, was identified by the ED as Odisha-based Biswal Tradelink.

As part of the investigation, the ED carried out searches against the company and its promoters in August and arrested its Managing Director, Partha Sarathi Biswal.

The money laundering case stems from a November 2024 FIR of Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW). It was alleged that the company was engaged in issuing “fake” bank guarantees against a commission of 8 per cent.

The Reliance Group had then said that Reliance Power had been a “victim of fraud, forgery and cheating conspiracy” in this case and it had made due disclosures in this context to the stock exchange on November 7, 2024.

A group spokesperson said a criminal complaint was lodged by them against the third party (accused company) with Delhi Police’s EOW in October 2024 and the “due process” of law would follow.

The ED sources had said that the Bhubaneswar-based company was using an email domain — s-bi.co.in — similar to sbi.co.in to create a “facade” of genuineness that the communication was being sent by the State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest lender.
The fake domain was used to send “forged” communication to the SECI, they said.

The ED’s preliminary investigation, according to the sources, indicated that the company also facilitated “fake” bills for commission and used multiple “undisclosed” bank accounts.

Suspicious transactions worth crores of rupees were done through these bank accounts, they said.

The company is a “mere paper entity” as its registered office is a residential property belonging to a relative of Biswal. No company records were found at the address during the searches, the sources had said. (Agencies)
