         20-yr-old girl hangs self in Jammu

 

 

Jammu: A 20-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself at her home in Udhampur district of Jammu region on Sunday.

 The report said that the matter came into light when the deceased was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room by her family members.

After the incident the family members alerted the police and they reached on the spot of incident and started a probe.

The reason of this extreme step taken by the victim is not known yet, the report said.

The deceased was a second year student in Women College Udhampur, as per the report

Jammu: After a week, since the killing of Kashmiri Pandit Sanjay Sharma who was killed by terrorists in  Achan village of  Pulwama,the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday recovered an aircraft-shaped balloon with ‘PIA’ written on it from  Muthi Khurd village in Ghagwal of Samba, Jammu.

As per report, the Samba Police after being informed by the locals of Ghagwal village that a mysterious aircraft-shaped ballon with ‘PIA’ written on it landed in their village came there and took it in their custody.

A  police probe has been set into motion in the area.

This is a second ballon recovered by the police in Samba after a week, the report said.

Jammu: As part of its efforts to eliminate single-use plastic, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) launched a drive on Sunday to seize the banned plastic from traders and shopkeepers in Jammu.

According to the report,  the JMC teams seen seizing and awaring the local shopkeepers and street vendors about the banned plastic in their inspection drive.

Speaking to the media , a JMC official said:” We have strict orders from JMC Mayor and Commissioner to seize the polythene bags which are less than 120 microns and in this connection today we have conducted this drive along with a sanitation team”.

“On the diktats of JMC mayor we’re on inspection rounds. Three zones have been divided to carry out this drive in Jammu and from tuesday onwards, we will also challan defaulters above Rs 5,000 if they were found trading polythene bags less than 120 microns”, he further said.

“We have strict directions from our mayor not to spare any defaulter, if a person found violating the rules. The defaulters will have to pay a fine depending on the weight of the illegal plastic procured from their possession”, he added.

J&K: One dead, another injured in road accident

A man died while another one was injured in an accident that took place in Sheeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday.

An official said that a head on collision between two vehicles took place at Sheeri, resulting in injuries to two persons.

He said soon after the incident injured were immediately rushed to a nearby health facility, however, one of them was declared dead on arrival.

The deceased was identified as Bashir Ahmed Ahanger of Jalal Sahib Baramulla.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.

                      Police arrest two persons for ‘stalking, harassing’ girl in J-K

Srinagar police on Sunday arrested two men for allegedly stalking and harassing a girl in the Dal Gate area of the city. In a tweet, the police said that the two “eve-teasers”, identified as Saqib Mehraj Sheikh and Faizan Yousuf Sheikh, were both residents of Kanidiver Hawal.

The police further added that a team led by DO Nehru Park Syed Faisal also seized the scooter used by the duo and an FIR has been registered. Earlier, a girl had alleged that the two stalkers harassed her on Saturday.

Jammu: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Sunday said that drones are being used for “dropping money and IEDs together by Pakistan to keep terrorism alive in Jammu and Kashmir”.

Divulging details on the Poonch drone incident where security forces recovered 7 kg heroine along with 2 crore rupees of cash after busting a narco-terror module a day ago, the DGP told reporters in Jammu: “Pakistan was sending narcotics and arms through drones in past but they have changed their modus operandi. Now IEDs and money are being dropped together. The IEDs are being used by terrorists while money is being given to handlers of terrorists and those involve in narcotic peddling.”

“It has come to the fore that the aim of dropping money through drones is to keep terrorism alive in J-K by Pakistan,” the DGP stated.

“There are dozens of such incidents reported so far and J&K Police is investigating these cases. We are approaching Narcotic Bureau Punjab in this regard to smoothen the proceedings of probe. All such modules will be busted soon and involved will not be spared,” the DGP said.

“The objective of dropping money along with IEDs is to blow up such IEDs and money in advance is being sent, so that more people in the pretext of monetary benefits will come forward for carrying out terror activities,” he said.

“If any person be it political or non-political, involved in deteriorating law and order situation will not spared and strict action will be taken against them”.

About G20 summit, the DGP said all arrangements are being put in place to conduct smooth proceedings of G20 in J-K.

Jammu: An army jawan  injured in a mine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati (KG) sector of Jammu’s Poonch district on Sunday.

As per sources, during a routine patrol along the LoC in the KG sector, the soldier sustained critical injuries in a mine blast, when he accidentally stepped on to the landmine.

The injured is identified as Naik Rajeev Kumar of 15 Dogra regiment resident of Himachal Pradesh state.

He has been evacuated to Medical Hospital Nagrota in a helicopter for advanced treatment.

Various roads in the Jammu city are in a shambles, crying for repair. As a result, locals have a tough time commuting on them.

As per the report, Several residents of Hajipura in Last Morh,Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, have been facing tough time to cross their streets because according to them, their street remain waterlogged all the time due to which they are not able to travel through it.

The residents of Hajipura has told the media that whenever they visit the municipal contractor to address the issue he misbehaves with them and has refused to repair the damaged street.

Nearly 10 Lakh Devotees Payed Obeisance At Mata Vaishno Devi This Year So Far

In view of the ongoing examination season across the country, the rush to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine have witnessed a slight dip but around 10 lakh devotees have paid obeisance this year till date at the Shrine nestled in Trikuta Hills of Katra town in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources on Saturday said that there has been a slight decline in the pilgrims due to the examination season and despite that, this year so far nearly 10 lakh devotees have offered prayers to natural pindies inside the cave shrine.

“Presently 15000 to 20000 devotees are reaching the Katra base camp on daily basis to trek for the Bhawan,” they added and said that till March 2, a total of 9,72,143 (round 9.72 lakh) devotees paid obeisance at the cave shrine.

They said that in January, 5.24 lakh devotees and in February, 4.14 lakh devotees visited the shrine.

A shrine board official said that the old natural cave, which was thrown open on Makar Sankranti for the pilgrims, shall be closed after Holi.
