Jammu: Mehbooba Mufti visits Govt hospital to enquire the health of injured in army custody

Poonch: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday visited Sub District Hospital Surankote in Poonch to know the health of injured persons, who suffered wounds during army custody on December 23rd.

Mufti along with other party leaders and workers visited the SDH Surankote town in Poonch district of J&K and provided financial help of rupees of 10 thousand to each injured.

Earlier, Mehbooba along with her party members were prevented and stopped by the local police in Surankote when she was going to meet the families of victims. She also staged a demonstration when police stopped her way.

 

On 23 December,  the security personnel in Topi Peer area of Bufliaz in Poonch picked up 10-15 local men for questioning following the terrible ambush attack on two army vehicles in the same area on 21 December which claimed the lives of 4 Jawans.

However, on the very next day three local residents identified as  Safeer Hussain (43), Mohd Showket (27) and Shabir Ahmad (32) who were taken for questioning by the security forces among the several men found life less near the same spot where the terror attack took place.

 

The Indian Army also ordered an investigation into the three civilian killings of the Poonch terror attack , amidst allegations of custodial torture by the families of the victims. The Army also shifted three senior officers – a Brigadier stationed in Surankote area of Rajouri, three army officers of 48 RR following the deaths of civilians.
