Jammu: PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti, others detained by police

Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti along with other party leaders has been detained by Poonch police on Saturday.

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti accompanied with other party members and local leaders who were on her way to  Topi Peer area in Bufliaz area of Poonch to meet the victim families of three youth who were killed in army custody during the interrogation as claimed by their family members on 23 December has been detained in Surankote area of the district by the police with other leaders.

However, Mehbooba with other leaders also staged a sit-in on the road and demanding a rendezvous with victim families from the local administration.

On 23 Decembers three local residents Safeer Hussain (43), Mohd Showket (27) and Shabir Ahmad (32)  were picked up for questioning by the army after the ambush assault on two army vehicles in Topi Peer area of Bufliaz in Poonch on 21 December, in which four jawans lost their lives. The three youth were later found dead near the terrorist attack site.
