27 quintals of banned polythene seized in Jammu
Jammu: Police in this district claimed today they have seized 27 quintals of banned polythene.
A police spokesperson said that information was received at Police Station Rajbagh regarding loading of banned polythene bags in a Punjab number vehicle.
On this, he said, a naka was laid on the National Highway near Rajbagh by the Police team led by Inspector Tariq Ahmed, SHO Rajbagh, assisted by ASI Sardari Lal under the supervision of SDPO Borderr Dheeraj Singh Katoch.

At the naka, the police spokesperson further said that the suspected vehicle was stopped for checking and during search of the vehicle driven by one Harmandeep Singh of Sangrur, Punjab, 110 sacks of polythene weighing 27 quintal were seized.
Since the matter pertains to the Pollution Control Department, Police have informed the concerned department Ranger, Anti-Polythene Check Post, Hatli, Kathua to take over the truck along with the loaded material (banned polythene) and the driver for further proceedings, he said.
The overall recovery was made under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal.
