Jammu: 1 seriously hurt in bear attack

Jammu: A bear has attacked and critically injured a man in Chhamber area of Poonch on Sunday.
Sources said that the incident took place when a man was going outside his house and then a bear attacked him and left him gravely wounded. However, when the villagers saw the bear they made noise and managed to scare away the bear.

The victim of bear assault is identified as Shabir Ahmed s/o Ghulam Ahmed Sakina r/o Chhamber Kanari village of Poonch.
The assault left Shabir Ahmed gravely hurt and he was shifted to Sub-district hospital Mandi, Poonch by the locals and after first aid he was referred to District Hospital Poonch for further treatment.
The villagers expressing resentment on the incident said that they lack a link road to the main city due to which they are facing hardships. They alleged that the local forest department is acting as mute spectator even after several bear attack cases on humans in the area.
