Police foiled smuggling bids in Jammu

Jammu: The Samba police foiled cattle smuggling bids and rescued 28 bovines from the peddlers in Samba on Friday.
According to sources, Samba Police foiled two cattle peddling attempt and freed 28 cattle and nabbed one bovine smuggler in Ghagwal area of Samba today.

The apprehended bovine smuggler is identified as Surjeet Kumar s/o Satpal r/o Tanda tehsil of R.S Pura, Jammu.
The police has registered two cases FIR No. 100/2023 u/s 188 IPC and FIR No. 101/2023 u/s 188 IPC at police station Ghagwal and has initiated a probe.
The bovine smuggler has been nabbed by police team comprising of SHO Police Station Ghagwal Bharat Bhushan and Incharge Police Post Rajpura Hardev Singh under the supervision of DySP Garu Ram and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh has said that a total of 91 bovine smugglers have been nabbed by Samba Police in past nine and half months while 73 FIRs have been registered against the cattle smugglers and 62 vehicles used for bovine peddling have been seized. However, 712 cattle have been rescued in Samba district by the police.
