Jammu: Bear attack leaves two critically hurt

Poonch: Two persons were injured after coming under attack by a wild bear at Hari village in Jammu-Kashmir’s Poonch district this evening.

As per sources, the bear assault took place when a father and son duo were cutting grass in forest at Hari village in Poonch  then suddenly a bear attacked them and left them seriously wounded. They have suffered injuries to their face, head, leg and hands from the bear attack.

After the incident, the victims were taken to Raja Sukhdev hospital Poonch for treatment where their condition is stable now.

“Both father and son were cutting grass near their home then a bear came and attacked them.

“After the bear attack the villagers took the duo to hospital. It took us  one and half an hour to reach to this medical facility.

“There was nobody in the hospital and the medical staff who is here have been apprising us that they can’t do anything as their duty is over.

“The victim’s son has lost so much blood and his father is also badly hurt. There is no one to attend them”. said Mr Nisar Ahmed, a local man.

“They were cutting grass and suddenly a bear attacked them. This has happened so many times but govt never helped us.

“The bears have destroyed our maize crops several times. We  arrived here with great difficulty.

“It’s been an hour since we have come here and blood is oozing from his son’s wound. There is only one doctor who is available here.

“The hospital’s surgeon should be here to check the victims”, added Rafiq Ahmed, Neighbour of the victims.

“We were cutting grass the bear first attacked my father then me. When the villagers heard our screams they came to our rescue and took us here in a private vehicle”, said Mudassar Iqbal r/o Hari village of Poonch,  victim’s son who got injured in bear attack.
