Jammu: Army officer hurt several jawans

Jammu:
An army officer hurt several jawans, officers  when he opened fire at them during shooting practice in Rajouri district of Jammu yesterday.

As per report, the incident took place when an Indian army Major opened fire at his colleagues and soldiers and also allegedly hurled a grenade on them in Neeli post of Indian army of Thanamandi area in Rajouri district yesterday, following which three army officials and five jawans suffered wounds.

After the incident, the injured were rushed to a nearby army hospital and the victims had been declared as stable. The army has denied such incident happened at the army camp, but one of Indian army official account namely White Knight Corps on ‘X’ confirmed about the incident.

The accused major who carried out this attack created a ruckus for several hours who firstly opened fire on his colleagues. However, when the Commanding Officer (CO) and Deputy Commanding Officer along with a medical officer who were present on the scene also were attacked by the accused, when they were trying to convince the culprit major to surrender before them.

Defence PRO Jammu, Lt Col Suneel Bartwal has said that the incident was not a terrorist attack in the army camp but an unfortunate incident happened there which is being probed.
