“The municipality chairman assured us that time when the construction of street will begin they will repair our street and will construct a drain.
“But now the contractors are apprising us that our street had not been given tender. Our ward members don’t attend our calls and they only say our street would be made” said, Ms. Rashmi Devi, a resident of Ward No.7 of Katra.
“The municipal committee is not constructing a drain for us they are only laying tiles and throwing sand in the name of street construction here”, another woman ward member said.
“We will not let them work till they don’t make a drain for us. All the officers came here and told us that they will first make drain”, a local man added.
“They have made the street but have not made the drain due to this a house has collapsed here.
“This street and another one has been tendered”, a local youth told media.
“The street was made three decades ago and no one came here after that to take its cognisance”, a local man said.
“What they will do for poor like us when they are not even capable of making a drain for us”, Ms. Rashmi Devi claimed.
“We are forced to clean the waste ourselves. Our children has become sick cleaning this muck”, a local man said.
“A lady came to us and showed concerns about the construction of her ward street. As per my information that street has not been tendered yet.
“Another street has been given tender of Rs 3 lakh there. We have told the woman to submit an application to us after which we will initiate the tendering process for their street”, said EO MC Katra, Mr Rajat Abrol.
