Half-naked thieves thrashed man in Jammu

Jammu: In an startling incident, a gang of thieves allegedly thrashed a man in Narwal area of Jammu last night yesterday.
According to the report, a gang of half-naked burglars covering their faces with shirts pounced on a truck driver in yard no.7 in Narwal in Jammu late in the night, after which the victim sustained injuries on his hand, head and leg.

Speaking to the media, an eyewitness of the incident, said, “Two men were standing on the top of truck and another one was standing near a canal.
“When the victim inquired them about their presence the burglars thrashed him. They were 13-15 people who were unloading goods from the vehicle.
“They attacked on the driver’s hand and he got 17 stitches. The victim can only recognised 2-3 burglars”.
“Thefts have taken place here 3-4 times earlier and if we try to intervene when burglars used to attack the police then take action against us.
“This happened around 12-12:30am we also went to police station but they didn’t came with us”, another eyewitness added.
“No one came from the police station came till 11am in the morning. When the driver came out from his truck the burglar armed with halberd hit on driver’s arm, leg.
“When the thieves were about to hit him on the head he blocked their attack with his hand and suffered grave wounds.
“The burglars were locals and came in an auto. They were giving excuses that they came here to buy tyres”, another man alleged.
“I was sleeping in my truck some men came and climbed on my truck. I woke up when my vehicle shook.
“I came out from my truck and asked the men what they’re doing here.
“The burglars told me that they have came here to buy tyres. Then 5-6 men came from behind and circled me and hit me.
“They were not wearing any shirts and had covered their faces with it. This place is not safe. They were more than ten.
“They were local people and were speaking Gojri”, said, Mr Balwan Singh, who owns the truck and who was attacked by the gang of burglars.
