J-K: LG Sinha unveils Mahatma Gandhi Statue

LG Sinha on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti unveiled a Charkha installation and a statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Civil secretariat in Srinagar on Monday.
Accompanied by J&K CS Arun Mehta and other senior officials the LG Sinha unveiling a charkha and a statue installation paid rich tributes to the father of the nation at civil secretariat in Srinagar.

Taking to social media platform X, the LG said, “Unveiled a statue of Pujya Mahatma Gandhi Ji and a Charkha installation at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar. Charkha was used as a significant tool by Bapu in the fight against British Rule. It is a symbol of Swadeshi movement, self-reliance and economic freedom.
“Today, J&K villages are witnessing unprecedented growth due to the availability of various sources of income. New entrepreneurs are starting their new innings from villages. In terms of basic facilities, the gaps between village and the city are disappearing.
“Following Bapu’s ideals, J&K in 2021-22 had established 21,640 manufacturing & service units in the villages with the help of KVIC, providing employment to more than 1.73 Lakh. In the last FY, more than 10,628 new units had been installed.
“Greetings to all on Gandhi Jayanti. Pujya Bapu’s lifelong mission was to transform lives of people. His life, thoughts & work represent eternal values of humanity. Let us take a pledge to follow the path of Non-violence, Truth & strive to remove social inequities in our society”, LG said on X.
