Jammu: Missing man found dead after months

Jammu: Skeleton of a 35-year-old man, who went missing six months ago was found in the forest in Udhampur district of Jammu on Satruday.

According to the report,  the incident came to fore when a local man at around 9:30am went in the wood approximately 1.5kms from Charee village in Ramnagar of Udhampur district to find his missing live stock and  found a skeleton of a man lying there who went missing six months ago.

After the incident, the man informed the police and SDPO Ramnagar Vishal Singh Manhas and SHO Ramnagar PS Sohan Singh Bandral with a police team reached at the spot and started a probe.

The man whose skeleton has been recovered has been identified as Ashok Kumar (35) s/o Prem Nath r/o Ramnagar of Udhampur. His family has been informed by the police about their ward. The victim is survived by four kids.

The police recovered a red bag, a tiffin, a tiny liquor bottle lying alongside the skeleton of the man in the forest. Pertinent to mention that the skeleton’s hand was missing from the body, which was recovered six months ago from a dog’s mouth who was trying to eat it.

The police confirmed that the skeleton is of the man who had gone missing six months in Ramnagar, after the forensic experts examined the hand they found from a dog . The police are suspecting that the man might have committed suicide as they have claimed to found a noose-like rope from a tree in the forest, where the disappeared man’s skeleton was found.

The police has registered a case U/S 174 of IPC  and a probe has been set into motion to ascertain the reason why the victim took this extreme step, the report said
