Body of youth recovered from river in Jammu

Jammu: A male body was recovered from a river in Sumb area of Samba today.
The report said that a 22-year-old youth from Sumb area of Samba district in Jammu who washed away in Basantar river when he was trying to cross the river four days ago has been found today in the river.

The Samba police and SDRF from past two days were conducting an intensive search operation in the adjoining areas and searched every nook and corner of the river, but they found no success. However, the deceased’s body was found seen floating on the river few meters away, where the victim was trying to cross the river.
The deceased has been identified as Sachin Singh s/o Shail Singh r/o of Samota village of Sumb in Samba district.
The body was seen floating on the river which prompted locals to call police and upon receiving the call, a police party from Samba Police station reached at the scene of incident and when they took call to send the deceased’s body for autopsy, the family members of the deceased didn’t agree with the police decision seeing their son’s decomposed body and conducting his final rites later.
The Basantar river is the sole passage for locals because the water body lack bridge and the village lack roads, the report said.
