Anantnag Encounter: Operation against terrorists resume

The Indian army and J&K police on Thursday morning resumed the operation against terrorists in woods of Anantnag’s Kokernag area.

An encounter broke out between terrorists, security forces and J&K police yesterday evening in forest area of Kokernag in which an Indian army colonel, a major and a J&K Police DySP  attained martyrdom during the encounter with the terrorists.

The officers were identified as Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak and a J&K police Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Himayun Muzamil Bhat lost their lives after the hours-long exchange of gunfire with LeT terrorists hiding in the forest area of Kokernag.

Yesterday, Northern Army commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi said that some Pakistan is trying hard to disturb peace in J&K and they use to kill foreign terrorists on the border but some  have to J&K by road through Punjab and Nepal.
