Anantnag Encounter: Officers martyred in encounter

Jammu: An intense encounter between holed up terrorists and the security forces in Kokernag area of Anantnag of Kashmir, which began on Wednesday  afternoon and continued late night claimed the lives of three brave heroes.

According to the reports, a colonel, one major and a J&K Police DySP  were martyred during the encounter with the terrorists.

The officers were identified as Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak  and J&K police Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Himayun Muzamil Bhat  lost their lives after the hours-long exchange of gunfire with LeT terrorists hiding in the forest area of Kokernag.

On Tuesday, a Rifleman of Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles Battalion Ravi Kumar of Kishtwar district made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, when he laid his life fighting against the terrorists in Narla area of Kalakote of Rajouri.
