Wood smuggling bid foiled in Jammu

Jammu: An attempt to smuggle out over 3155 pieces of willow cleft has been foiled by the Forest department sleuths of Kathua after they seized a truck-load of wood at Basantpur village in Kathua today.
According to the report, acting on specific information, a team of Basantpur Block Forest Officer laid a naka at Basantpur village and stopped a truck (JK03E8677) which was coming Kashmir’s Awantipora area and when it was physically checked, the police recovered 3155 pieces of Willow wood in it. The vehicle was carrying the consignment to Jalandhar district in Punjab from Kashmir.

The forest department has taken the two man who was in the truck in their custody to interrogate them.
