Cop allegedly thrashed, threatened men in Jammu

Jammu: In a disturbing incident, a Dhaba owner has alleged that a cop and his accomplice has thrashed him along with his workers and also threatened them with his service revolver in the victim’s Dhaba situated on Jammu-Pathankot National highway near GMC Kathua yesterday.
According to the report, the incident happened when a Jammu police cop and a retired commando went in a Kaku Vaishno Dhaba situated on Jammu-Pathankot national highway and beat up the Dhaba owner, his workers and wounded them.

“The incident happened at 12:45pm when a man came in my Dhaba and ordered food and left. After him two men came and ordered food.
“We served them food and they started eating it while saying abuses. When we told them to not use indecent language here as families and doctors were having food here.
“We told them it doesn’t seems good on a cop displaying such conduct in public then when my cook came out of the kitchen the policeman slapped him.
“I intervened and my worker asked the cop why he hit him hearing this he took out his revolver and said I will kill you and your owner.
“I apprised the policeman to let go this matter then I told my workers to sleep and close the dhaba as we will deal with this matter in the morning.
“After that the accused went after my workers pelted stones, bricks at them and fired shots in the air.
“I locked my workers in the room and came out to handle the situation but as I came out both man thrashed me badly till police didn’t arrived.
“They thrashed me and I don’t know the reason why they did. They were demanding Rs 30,000 from me. They opened my cash box and took Rs 12000 from it.
“When police came they throw away the money but that was only Rs 4000 I also lost my gold chain.
“The policeman’s name is Joginder Singh from Samba and his accomplice is a retired commando.
“I have given a written complaint to police these men have came earlier in my dhaba also to eat food. I want stringent action against them”, Owner of the Dhaba told media.
