Locals lodged protest against rising prices in Jammu

Jammu: The Shiv Sena unit of Jammu on Tuesday held a protest over the issue of price rise of vegetables and installations of smart meters at Sidco chowk in Bari Brahmana area of Jammu.

Raising slogans ‘Stop sucking blood of people’, Stop looting masses, ‘Stop installation of meters’ against the government, the agitators demanded end to people’s sufferings.

“The J&K govt has failed to give any relief to locals against rising prices and we are staging protest against their failure.

“Our agitation is against regime’s collection of tax from local people whether on smart meters or other things.

“The people are worried and are facing the burnt of this crisis. India after China is the biggest producer of tomatoes in the world but see our plight.

“The tomatoes is being sold at Rs 250/kg along with other essential eatables. The govt is busy in collecting revenues from local people rather than providing relief to them.

“The Jammu and Kashmir is generating more electricity than consumption and the govt should give free electricity and water which our people deserves” said, Mr Raj Singh, a member of Shiva Sena Jammu unit.

“The authorities should control inflation the people thought that the govt  will do something for people but they’re not doing anything. People are suffering and govt should do something about it”, said Rajesh Sharma.
