Live mortar shell found in Jammu

Jammu: Panic struck the residents of a village in Jammu’s Samba district on Saturday after a live mortar shell was detected.
The report said that a live mortar shell was found in a river in Purani Kali village of Nud area in Samba district. A man discovered the unexploded live mortar in the river when he was extracting sand from it, following which locals informed the police and a bomb disposal squad was called.

After that incident, a Bomb Disposal Squad was called at the scene and the unexploded mortar was safely diffused in a safe place while no harm was reported, the report said.
“Some men came with a tractor and they were extracting sand from the river here. They were digging the river with spades then something got struck with their spade, whey they saw what it is, it was a mortar shell.
“They called me and I came here. I informed a journalist and he informed Samba police”, a local man said.
