Jammu family wants answers, justice after in-custody death

Jammu: The family members of a man, who passed away in Banganga police custody in Katra area of Reasi district, expressed resentment outside the police station on Thursday demanding justice for the deceased.
According to the report, the matter came to fore when a man namely Sohan Singh s/o Late Lal Singh r/o Purana Droorh, Katra in Reasi was brought to Ban Ganga police station over charges of burglary last night, but shockingly on the next day in the prison he was mysteriously found dead in his cell by the police personnel.

“When the police caught him he was fine but when they took him to their house he was thrashed by them.
“Tell me how many people has thrashed my son what was police doing that time. How he got hanged.
“I want my son alive as I have nobody to financially support me”, Deceased’s mother allegedly said.
However, the deceased’s body has been sent for the post-mortem in CHC Katra and a probe has been ordered on the diktats of magistrate to jail authorities to ascertain the reason of the man’s death.
