In a first of its kind, a road connecting Shiekh Bala Muqam area of Bandipora district’s Aloosa village was macadamised by the local administration yesterday, thus putting an end to the decades-long agony of the villagers.

The residents of the village expressed gratitude and zeal welcoming the move of local authorities after watching the vital road macadamised for the first time after India’s freedom.

The villagers of the area praised Chief engineer R&B and DC Bandipora for starting macadamisation of the village road.

“We are so glad”, an elderly villager told media.

“We thank chief engineer R&B, DC Bandipora and all the members of DDC because today we got connected to humans as we have faced immense sufferings.

“All of us dreamed to see our road getting macadamised, but two generations have passed to see this dream converting into reality but the road wasn’t macadamised.

“Now our road is getting macadamised and we are so thankful to govt.

“We also appeal to DC sir to pay attention to our drainage system.”, said, Ziyafat Ali Khan, a villager.

The road was constructed in 1976, when food grains were used as capital inexchange of work rather than money.
