Several people trapped in river in Jammu, rescued

Jammu: Several people who got trapped in flash floods in Ujh river in Jasrota area of Kathua in Jammu on Sunday had been rescued by SDRF personnel.
According to the report, the incident happened when five labourers got trapped in Ujh river in Kathua in flash floods, after which Rajbagh PSI Tariq Ahmed, Jasrota Panchayat’s Sarpanch Sudarshan Khajuria and, a team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation and saved the distressed victims.

The labourers went there for construction work of a PDD tower and got trapped, however the men paid no heed to the advisory of the police leading which they got stuck in flash floods.
“We got trapped late in the evening and we were five men, police saved us”, said, Mr Vinod Sharma, a labourer, who was rescued.
“We got information of five people who was trapped in the river and rescued them with aid of natives and SDRF team.
“We have to risk our lives to save people. The police informed locals here to avoid the river as its water level has increased due to which its dangerous to go near it”, said, Rajbagh PSI Tariq Ahmed.
