Family uproars as Newborn dies, alleges negligence of hospital in Jammu

Jammu: In a tragic incident, a new born died in GMC Jammu yesterday after which the family members created a ruckus accusing the hospital of negligence, while demanding punishment against the hospital and doctors.
“On 3rd July, I admitted my wife here in the night and she delivered baby the next day. The hospital staff told me that baby is born healthy and responding normally.

“After some time they informed me that my baby has to be admit in ward as the baby has chest infection and it’s not serious.
“They started the infant’s treatment and kept it going but then told me the newborn will take some days to be well as baby’s tests aren’t okay.
“After two days they discharged my wife from the hospital and kept our baby there saying that they have given infant anti-biotics due to which toddler has to stay here for sometime.
“I asked the doctors is there something to be sacred of, they apprised me everything is stable.
“I used to come to the hospital thrice a day to see my kid and the doctors used to advise me to leave slippers outside and wear a gown before meeting the baby.
“Today, there are several policemen present in my baby’s room, why they’re not following any medical protocol, why not now my baby is getting infected”, Father of the deceased infant said.
“They haven’t let us touch our baby and forbid us to see the infant. Even they stopped baby’s mother to see the newborn”, A relative of the deceased infant said.
“My daughter is yearning in pain at home. She is weeping and asking us to bring her baby back.
“How should we convince her she is dithering”. said Victim’s Grandmother, weeping.
“They told us that the delivery went normal and we will let you see the infant after few hours as we have to keep the newborn under observation.
“When we went at 5pm to watch our newborn they apprised us that we can meet our infant in the morning.
“When we went to meet our baby in the dawn they told us the kid has got infection.
“We want this hospital to be closed and the attending doctors to be nabbed.
“We have given them so much money still they failed to take care of our toddler”, a relative of the victim said.
