Success story: Jammu Woman along with kids won medals in championship

Jammu: A Woman from Jammu with her kids along with a local boy has brought happiness to whole J&K by winning medals in prestigious 3rd Mount Everest International Dance, Singing, & sports championship held at Kathmandu in Nepal recently.

Sharing her success story with JK Media, Mrs Harkirat Kour, said, “We got a big platform to present J&K and our country at world stage”.

“There were many countries like Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, SriLanka, Bangladesh which participated in the competition and performed.

“There were more than three hundred candidates which performed at the event in different categories and from our country several children won many medals there.

“I won a silver medal in super moms category for performing semi-classical dance, my daughter Irwin Singh of (Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School, Jammu) won bronze medal in classical category.

“While my son Darwin Singh won bronze medal for playing guitar and he is Shahid Salaria who has won silver medal for performing Punjabi folk dance.

“The competition was very tough as there is so much talent in India & world, they were representing their cultures and our experience was very good.

“The competition was conducted at Tribhuvan University there when we go outside and perform at world stage we get so much exposure, said, Mrs Harkirat Kour.

“I felt so glad performing there and enjoyed alot. There many students there & competition was tough”, added  Irwin Singh.

“During covid my mom arranged a guitar teacher for me whose name was Rafi sir. He took me there.

“The competition was solid and I performed three songs there, two were old songs and a rhythm that I played”, remarked Darwin Singh.

“I’m from Udhampur and the experience was very amazing at the championship. Our nationals were organised at Katra.

“I haven’t taken any dance class and learned the art myself. But for international championship I thank Gurvinder mam who helped me”, said Shahid Salaria.
