Jammu: One injured in road accident

Jammu: A road accident has occurred on Tuesday in which a water tanker fell into a deep gorge in Panthal village, Katra of Jammu’s Reasi district.

As per report, the incident happened at 5am when a water tanker fell in a gorge in Panthal village of Katra, following which its  driver got stuck in the vehicle.

After the mishap, the local residents of the area and police launched a rescue operation to recover the driver, which has been going since the time when the report was last filed.

“This accident happened around 5-5:15am and the poor soul is still inside the tanker, only his cries for help are coming from the inside.

“Our people and police is trying to get him out. We came to know about this mishap from our PHE lineman, who came here to fix the broken water connection.

“He heard the man’s yell and informed us then we reached here the driver was asking for water.

“Then I called local police. The rescue operation has been going on since 4-4:30hrs here. The driver is a local namely  Vishal Singh of Sundrani village of Udhampur, said, Mr Sher Singh, a native man.

“We came to know about the incident in the morning actually it’s a gorge here near the road in which he fell due to which we got the information late.

“Our Naib Sarpanch Mr Sher Singh apprised us about this mishap. Everyone is trying to pull him out and we’re in this rescue operation since 5 hours.
