Woman dies in hospital, Family accuse hospital of negligence in Jammu

Jammu: Family of a woman who died three days after treatment at GMC in Kathua on Saturday staged a protest and created a ruckus in the hospital, accusing the doctors of negligence leading to death in Jammu.

As per report, a local woman was admitted to GMC Kathua with complaints of high blood pressure on May 25. Since then she was being treated there. But all of sudden the woman died in the hospital as her condition worsened.

“It’s been four days she was fine on ventilator then the hospital staff shifted her to another ward, she was not recovering and they didn’t came even came to check her once”, a relative of the woman said.

“She was in so much trouble and at 3am they called the doctor she was hinting that she needs to use toilet but they didn’t helped her”, he accused.

“When we admitted her they said she is fine and her tests are okay. I was calling doctors to attend her from 3-8pm, but he didn’t came “, he added.

“The doctors were advising on phone only and whey they at last came they said they are sleeping and will come at 8pm”, he alleged sobbing.

“When  her health worsened why didn’t they came the doctor who was on duty, why he didn’t came”, he asserted.

“My name is Sahil and yesterday she was taken out of ICU there they were routinely checking her”, Sahil a relative of the victim said.

“But when they shifted her to some other ward they stopped checking her properly, doctors came in the morning”, he said.

“The HOD’s used to come and used to tell a boy here to check the patients. A doctor who was on duty here went to sleep at 2’o clock”, he added.

“I lift the oxygen cylinder myself when we went to conduct her ultra sound. We’re taking our critical patients around and they took an hour to arrange the cylinder”, he alleged.
