Jammu: GMC students stage protest after ‘The Kerala Story’ issue, demanded arrest
Jammu: Several students of Government Medical College, Bakshi Nagar on Monday held an agitation in GMC Bakshi Nagar, demanding action against those involved in the scuffle which broke out between the two group of students allegedly over the ‘The Kerala Story’ film link shared in the hostel’s whatsapp group, which left some students wounded yesterday.
The anguished students pressed for their demands including arrests of persons allegedly involved in the fight between the students inside the hostel accomodation.

One of the agitating students, said, “Yesterday, what happened is that somebody forwarded ‘The Kerala story’ film link in the academic Whatsapp group, then somebody said it is academic group don’t send such videos here”.
“One of them went to assault that student who said not to forward such videos in academic whatsapp group, batchmates were quarreling a senior went to pacify them and dispersed the students, then somebody came from behind and hit that senior on the head with a rod”, he added.
“These are some anti-social elements in our hostel who are disturbing our communal harmony, if the management expels them from the hostel then everything will be fine and this won’t happen in future”, he asserted.
“Yesterday, night our principal came and we’re here till 6am. We have trust on our college authority they can take action and this matter can be solved”, he said.
Later at the scene of protest, GMC’s Principal, Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma arrived and pacified the dissenting students saying that protests don’t suit medical professionals and they should go back to their classes.
But the protesting students kept pressing for their demand of arresting the hooligans and persons involved in the GMC boys hostel student fight.
