Jammu: You feel thirsty and go to your nearby shops in J-K to buy bottled water or used them for several occasions to fulfill the drinking water requirement. Good news for you, they’re available and are on sale in all most all the areas of the J&K region.

Many of us buy packaged drinking water without ever giving it a second thought. But is it  the wisest choice for our health.

BPA is one of the most harmful chemicals used to make plastic water bottles, and the levels of it increase when the water is stored for a long period of time or at a higher temperature and in Jammu especially during the summer the temperature rises everyday till August, if the water remain exposed to sunlight then the water in plastic bottles can become poisonous.

Because plastic water bottles are made with chemicals that can leak into your water. One of those chemicals is Bisphenol A (BPA), an industrial chemical used in plastic water bottles and other plastic products. When BPA leaks into the water, it can cause health effects on the body.

Hence, prolonged consumption of water stored in plastic bottles can cause severe health problems.

If the temperature of the place you’re living in exceeds 48’c then the water in the plastic bottle gets contaminated in a day, if the plastic water bottles stays in sunlight upto four weeks then the water is already spoiled thus not suitable for drinking.

Even the descriptions written on the plastic water bottles reads that it should be kept away from sunlight.
