Orphan girl gang-raped  in Jammu

Jammu:  The police have arrested four boys on Monday who allegedly gang-raped a minor orphan girl  in a car in Machhedi village of Lohia Malhar block of Billawar in Kathua on 7th of April.

As per sources, the incident came to light when the victim girl gave a written complaint to SDPO Billawar on 7th April, in which she said that she was going to her aunt’s house in Billwar’s Machhedi village and on the way four boys intercepted her path and coercively took the victim inside a car and gang raped her.

The minor victim has also apprised the police that she knew one among the accused who sexually assaulted her, who belonged to a financially sound family.

The victim girl has also said that she approached SDPO Billawar when the police didn’t registered her complaint even after visiting the police station many times.

Three days ago the Hindu organisations in Billawar staged an agitation against the local authorities  demanding a high-level probe into the matter.

After which the Billawar police registered a case and apprehended the culprits under relevant Sections of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Talking about the matter, SSP Kathua Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, said,” Today the victim girl’s statement will be recorded under 164 section of (IPC) in the presence of District Magistrate after which further proceedings will take place”.

However, the locals of Machhedi village of Billawar has expressed anger against the felony which took place in their village.
