Thief steals from Temple in broad daylight in Jammu, CCTV captures act

 

Jammu: A thief reportedly last Sunday committed a burglary in  ‘Data Ranpat Dev Ji’ temple of Birpur in Samba and stole deity’s garland of money from its neck .

According to the report, In the CCTV footage, a man wearing  black outfits covering his face can be seen moving suspiciously in the temple premises and taking off garland of notes from deity’s neck worth 20-22 thousand and also seen trying to open donation boxes of the temple, when he couldn’t open them he escaped from the temple.

The matter to came light when the members of ‘Data Ranpat Dev Ji’  Temple committee apprised the media about the theft yesterday, but reportedly  the burglary happened on 9th April.

The theft happened at 4:45pm on 9th of April, when a man taking benefit of crowd of devotees went inside the temple’s premises when there was nobody in it and stole garland of notes from the deity’s neck and fled away.

The temple committee has also said that they had already emptied the donation box at 3pm before the theft happened, which the burglar was trying to force open as captured by the CCTV cameras installed in the temple.

The members of the temple committee has registered an FIR at the Bari Brahmana police station against the thief and police has initiated a probe to nab the culprit.
