Officer injured in accidental fire in Jammu

Jammu: In a tragic incident, a Sub Inspector of Railway Protection Force (RPF) sustained injuries when he allegedly mishandled his weapon in Railway station in Jammu on Monday.
As per sources, The matter came to light when a colleague of the SI informed Govt Railway Police station Jammu about the incident by calling the Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu that SI RPF sustained injuries, when he accidently fired at himself while mishandling his weapon, this afternoon.

However, the prima facie has revealed that the officer suffered gun shot wounds during the weapon swapping with another colleague at the time of shift in duty.

Soon, after the incident the victim was rushed to GMC Jammu for the treatment.
The victim is identified as Sudhir Kumar Rai s/o Surendra Nath Rai (49) r/o Deoria, Zaminia Tehsil Ghazipur in UP.
He has received gun shot injury in his thigh.
The victim came to visit Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra.
Police has launched a probe into this matter.
