Students conduct drive for locals on ‘Saakh’ Immersion in Jammu

Jammu: Some students of  MC Khalsa College of Education Jammu and their teacher on Thursday launched an awareness drive on the banks of Tawi river and also at Tawi bridge to aware the locals to avoid immersing ‘Saakh’ (seeding stock of barley) in Tawi so that its water can’t be contaminated.

“If we ask you to collect the polythene bags that you have dumped in the river will you do it” asked a volunteer to a biker who according to them dumped garage in Tawi in their presence from Tawi Bridge.

“This is not the way you also have some fundamental rights and duties to follow. Don’t you know why the  constitution is made”, asked Janmeet Kour, a teacher of  Khalsa college to the biker who dumped garage in Tawi.

“It is our responsibility to aware you and don’t you think you also have some”, she added.

“If you contaminate the river others will also follow you”, said, a boy volunteer.

“People will dump the waste and they will go but we are standing here since yesterday to aware them”, she asserted.

“You have to aware the youth motivating them that they are future of the country and to elders we have to say with your support only we can build our country”, said Mayor Jammu, Mr Rajinder Sharma.

“We are awaring  people to avoid throwing plastic, shoppers in Tawi so its water can be saved from getting contaminated”, Ms. Kour said.

“I’m a teacher and Mayor sir also came and we told him should we install boardings on Tawi bridge to aware people cause locals have also demanded the same”, she asserted.
