Man kills ‘girlfriend’ then attempts suicide in Jammu, posts it on FB
Jammu: A horrendous incident has appeared in which a female doctor was allegedly murdered by her male friend in Janipur area of Jammu on 7th of March.
According to the report, the deceased was identified as 26-year-old Dr Sumedha, daughter of Kamal Kishore Sharma, resident of Talab Tillo (Jammu) while the accused was identified as Johar Ganai son of Mehmood Ganai, resident of Bhaderwah (at present living in Pamposh Colony, Janipur, Jammu).

Dr Sumedha and her friend Mehmood Ganai was living together from 5-6 years and recently on 7th of March she came home on Holi vacation in Jammu, where she was later murdered by her boyfriend in a house in Janipur of Jammu.

However, the accused after killing Dr Sumedha posted on Facebook, saying that he had committed suicide. One of his relatives happened to see the post and informed the Janipur Police about the matter, the report said.
Later, when police reached at the crime scene they then shifted the accused to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he’s still undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be critical. The body of the deceased doctor was however handed to her family after the completion of all the medical and legal procedures.
Dr Sumedha Sharma was in the final year of MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) in a college in Delhi, as per the report.
The family and friends of the victim has asked the police to bring justice to Dr Sumedha as she was brutually killed by the accused, the report added.
A case FIR Number 27/2023 under Section 302 has been registered in this connection against the culprit, the report said.
Meanwhile, the J&K’s Bajrang Dal chief Rakesh Bajrangi has alleged that Dr Sumedha murder is a case of “love Jihad” and demanded a probe and laws by the J&K govt against it.
