PDP holds protest against Roshni scheme in Jammu

Jammu: Scores of members of People’s Democratic Party on Monday staged a protest at Gandhi Nagar against the newly proposed Roshni scheme by govt.

The protestors were shouting slogans like ‘Take back Roshini Law’, ‘Authoritarianism will never be accepted’ for their demands.

“There is authoritarianism going on in J&K. We are agitating against the new bill which the local govt has introduced. This law is anti-poor and farmers, where they will go”, a protestor said

“They are being pestered by the local regime”, he added.

“Many people have 1000’s of kanal land in their possession, but the govt through Roshni bill snatching the land of those people who only have land in sq. meters,

“The central govt’s promise of ‘Housing for All by 2022’ has failed in J&K cause lands belong to poor are being snatched away”, another protestor said.

“When people build their properties the JDA and other govt departments don’t tell them that their establishment is illegal, they take action years afterIn all these years were the authorities in slumber”, PDP Leader Parvez Wafa Khan.

He added that PDP is the voice of masses and will work for the people.

The J-K govt has given a dead line up to 31st Jan to locals to vacate the properties which they have under Roshni scheme.
