Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit today staged strong protest against the installation of smart meters in the Jammu city with the intention of completely emptying the pockets of the people during the times of inflation, unemployment and recession. Along with this, it was described as the first step of the government towards privatization of electricity with the aim of looting the resources of the state.
In this regard, the dozens of Shiv Sainiks under the leadership of Party State President Manish Sahni assembled near the Press Club and burnt the effigy of smart meter, asking people to uproot the meters which rob the pockets of the public. The Party also gave the slogan of “Free Bijli Pani Hamara Haq” during a protest.
Sahni said that the state, which has the potential to produce about 18-20 thousands MW due to immense water resources and power projects, is producing more than the requirement. There is a legitimate right of the public to be given 24-hour free electricity.
Sahni took a jibe at the government and said that no opportunity is lost to loot the public and to benefit the private companies. The government has made up its mind to privatize electricity in Jammu and Kashmir and smart meters are the first step towards looting the public and benefitting private companies.
Sahni appeal to the public to uproot these robbers and demanded
thoroughly investigation of fast running meters and warn the government to come out of its mission to benefit private companies, give relief to the public. On this occasion, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Chairman Rakesh Gupta, Vice President Sandeep Bhagat, President kamgar Wing Raj Singh, President Youth Wing Binny Mahajan, Shashipal, Ashok Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Sanjeev Sudan, Surendra Kumar and many leaders and workers were present.
