Jammu, 8 August: Several anguished employees of the J&K Non-Gazetted electrical association (JKNGEEA) held agitation against the govt’s move of passing the Electricity amendment bill, today in Jammu’s Miran Sahib.
Gurmeet Singh secretary of the association said that the govt is going to commit a big blunder by privatizing the power sector and handing it over to the private stake holders which in turn will adversely affect the common consumers, farmers and the industry as a whole and because of this bill the employees of the power sector which includes employees, engineers will also suffer immensely.
Continuing he said that the electricity tariff will be unbearable for the masses in the coming days as the govt owned power sector is now going to be transfer to private industries who will fix the electricity bills according to their choices, which again will only fuel the on-going electricity crisis.
He further said that the present govt should scrap this bill in favour of the masses and the power department employees or otherwise they will intensity their agitations against the govt.
