Jammu, 12 July: Hospital staff at the Govt Medical College, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu has been reported to have misbehaved with a patient from Kotli Jhajjar area of Nagrota, yesterday.

The victim alleged that a doctor and a security guard misbehaved and manhandled him.

Tapish Sharma, resident of Kotli Jhajjar area of Nagrota alleged that he admitted his father on July, 5 at GMC’s ward no-11, yesterday while he was sleeping near his father in the ward, a hospital guard came and told him to go outside. He came out and found the guard misbehaving with two women, when Tapish questioned him on his behaviour with the ladies, the security guard started scolding and misbehaving with Tapish.

Moreover, the victim said that a doctor also joined the hospital security guard and threatened him that they don’t fear anyone while the doctor saw him recording the video of incident , he slapped Tapish , snatched his mobile, broke it and pushed him outside the hospital ward.

He further added, “ Few days ago I brought my injured friend who met with a serious accident, when I was trying to get him admitted in this hospital, the hospital staff told me to fill the form first and submit the money, then we will treat him but when I pleaded that his family is not present at the moment and we will submit the fee later, they didn’t agree and my friend died due to their irresponsible and unethical behaviour and policies.”

It is evident from earlier reported cases as well, that GMC – Jammu has always been in the news for ill-treating the patients. It is requested that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha must visit the hospital and take stringent actions against such misconduct and negligent behaviour of doctors and hospital staff which often are resultant of loss of life.
