In order to promote reading habit among youngsters a new library called ‘Baba Hasal Dev Ji Library ’ has been opened in the village Gurha Slathia of Samba district.

It was inaugurated by former minister Surjeet Singh Slathia . He said that the opening of this library will encourage students and the general public to read books and build a better society. ” Earlier our students had to go to Jammu or Samba but now with the construction of this library in their own village they are free to visit there and read without any hassle “, he added

Veer Prtap along with other members of the Guidance and Councelling Cell were also present during the inauguration ceremony.

” Our former DC Sheetal Nanda who at present is serving as the Commissioner in Rural Development Department , immensely contributed in the setting up of this library. She sanctioned an amount of rupees 18 Lakh and not only this, for the remaining infrastructure including furniture and Wi-Fi service the villagers were really kind in contributing their share in order to turn this dream into reality “, Veer Pratap said .

” It will prove as a blessing in channelising the energy of the youth in a positive direction. Also it will create a reading environment among the children and they will get motivated from each other” , one of the members was quoted as saying.

For the time being the library is opened for 14 hours a day . There are plans to make it fully functional ( 24-hour ) in future soon.
